Re: Leitz NPL Fluotar L 25/0.35 160/0.6-1.6
That's a real headscratcher. The only finite objectives I can think of with threads in that size range are for epi darkfield. Somebody must have had something very particular in mind. Or maybe it was just a general adapter for putting epi brightfield objectives onto a darkfield nosepiece and someone...

Re: Considering making an inf. frankenscope, would like epi options, have some objectives, thoughts?
If you aren't using a whole head an Olympus original tube lens is not really necessary. You will get good results from any number of well corrected third party lenses with an appropriate focal length (around 180), possibly superior results to the normal non-widefield Olympus tube lens. Something lik...

Inko means interferenz kontrast. Never seen this version though, the universal epi DIC has individual unremoveable prisms for each objective.

Re: Leica M80 Plan Objective
A little fringe is still visible in the images taken with the Planapo, I guess because the optics of the M80 are not apochromatically corrected (as those of the research grade stereos M125, M165 and M205). You get some fringe even with the nominally appchromatic bodies, just the nature of the beast.

Re: BX system and field number (FN) for different configurations
The regular trinocular tube projects only 22 mm to the eyepieces It projects a larger image than that even to the eyepieces. The trinocular port can cover aps-c no problem as my test showed, the quality is just a bit lower in the corners than the ultra widefield tube lens. You could probably use a ...

No. The diagonal of your sensor is 22mm, it can't capture 26.5mm.erikwetterskog wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:03 amI use direct projection to a m43 camera, am I getting the full FN26.5

It would not be a good fit. Its sample jolding and ergonomics are meant specifically for gem usage. You can repurpose it to a limited extent but it would not be ideal and you'd be paying a lot extra for features you won't use.

Re: how scared should I be of mercury lamps
Monochrome emitters are plenty strong for brightfield fluorescence, even too strong in the blue range. Even with green (lime) which is the least efficient and thus weakest for a small emitter there was no issue on the scope I set up.

Re: B&L Stereozoom SZ7 accessiories
In this case there is a legitimate reason for the mount. The SZ7 has like double the reolution of other SZ family members and a fairly different optical system--its max NA of 0.2 handily beats Leica's current offerings in the series (and was equal to the recently discontinued S Apo). A normal SZ len...

Re: Do I need another objective?
Oh, the normal plan 10x is a really good objective for its price, excellent corner to corner performance even direct on full frame and it also works surprisingly well with DIC, though I'd need to retest the best slider/condenser prism combo.

Re: Do I need another objective?
Using my planapo 60x/1.40 on my e800 was a bit disappointing since it has a dry condenser which throttles resolution. The oil condenser is very rare, I have never seen one for sale. I get better results using it with epi illumination/epi DIC on my other scope since it acts as its own high na oil con...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)
Yes but the f.N. only matches the real or viewed ield with a 10X eyepiece.because they are the default and the system's logic is based entirely on 10X eyepieces. It seems to me that the confusion is arising from thinking of it this way, even if there's nothing technically wrong with it. A 1x object...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)
Field number is based on a hypothetical 1x objective, not a 10x eyepiece. It's just a question what the diameter of the imaged field would be with a 1x objective, regardless of how large it looks to the eye.

Re: Do I need another objective?
First things first, get a cheap 20x/0.75 apo. Make sure it is the labeled one. It's an incredible objective and absurdly cheap because they were widely used in gene sequencers. The 20x fluor slider works pretty well with it. Edit: currently the price is a bit higher, the last glut was a while back. ...
