Re: BX system and field number (FN) for different configurations

I use direct projection to a m43 camera, am I getting the full FN26.5 No. The diagonal of your sensor is 22mm, it can't capture 26.5mm. Scarodactyl, I understand that. The regular trinocular tube projects only 22 mm to the eyepieces, but I do wonder if the tube lens delivers 26.5 mm to the trinocul...

Re: BX system and field number (FN) for different configurations

Hello,

Thanks for the info Pete! I guess I have to try my hand with combining stuff.

I’m contemplating getting a second stand just for EPI, since the confocal does not support fluorescence anyway.

Nikon S-Ke with many accessories for sale.

Hello, I am considering to sell this beautiful and well preserved microscope, complete with wooden box and lots of rare accessories. It is described in the link below. I only have room for two microscopes. I know there are a lot of people interested in old classics here. I bought the microscope at a...

BX system and field number (FN) for different configurations

Hello, Im wondering if anyone has a clear idea on how the field number of FN26.5 objectives are affected by accessories in the beam path. For instance, I have a fluorescence arm and want to add another confocal unit on top (UCFU). Will this reduce the field number? I use direct projection to a m43 c...

Re: how scared should I be of mercury lamps

I would say that the real danger occurs when somebody has been tinkering with the system. Excitations filters, emission filters, barrier filter etc. If you have access do a digital spectrometer, you can check the UV/Vis spectrum of the emission at your various settings. This is what I did. Also, if ...

My first impressions of DIC on the BX system and BX prism compatibility

Hello, I just managed to put together my BX-61, and finally received the DICT slider the other night. Let me just start by saying: WOW! I had extremely high expectations! I was not disappointed, in a way but I feel like I'm born again. Differential interference contrast is really something else, whi...

Here it is! https://imgur.com/a/v749xGr https://imgur.com/a/v749xGr I'm really about the darkfield base, adds an extra dimension to the experience. Very useful to check for dust as well in your prep. Now I'm wondering about the trinocular tube, how do I adapt a M43 camera to it? The camera port is m...

Yes you’re right. He switched out the tube to a trinocular tube for me! I’m really happy about this, it’s not that straightforward to find. I figure it will be easier to find a better lens later, when the opportunity presents itself. Does anyone know what a typical price and working distance is for ...

Re: Wild M8 vs Wild MZ3

The other option would be to buy the M8-stand and the Plan 1x lens seperately. But I don't know the asking price for the lens-less stand.

There are two lenses at %Bay now at $250-300 + shipping and taxes. What is a reasonable price?

[Found] Olympus UMPLFL or LMPLFL

Hello,

I’m in the market for Olympus metallurgical objectives. 10x, and in particular 20x of interest. No BD objectives, I don’t have the nosepiece. Trying to avoid eBay prices.

Cheers!

Re: WTB: Olympus DIC (BX) items

Hello Fero, I actually don't know yet! I'm still waiting for the U-DICT, as it will be hand smuggled over from the UK (I'm too cheap to pay duties). I have 5 DIC-prisms (U-DIC10s, U-DP20, U-DPA40, U-DIC60 and U-DIC100), but actually only two "correct" combinations so far. These are the "fancy" objec...

Wow thanks! I’m not fully sure how they are equipped. Will find out. The dealer/repairman says that the Wild system is very flexible and stuff can be interchanged between bodies of various vintages. He also praises the mechanical construction of both scopes. Is the 1x objective the standard? Is it c...

I ended up buying it, in a package with a PlAPO 100x and a 40x 0.95 dry.

Can’t wait to try them out! Good point regarding having two different oil objectives with different magnification. Now my only dilemma what I have to leave outside the nosepiece.

Hello,

Thanks for your smart answers! I’m not sure what the price would be, but maybe it’s a bargain.

Ideally I’m looking for a UIS2 60x and 100x since I have the DiC-prisms for those. But they do cost some serious $$$.

Olympus UPlanAPO 40x/1.00 Oil iris?

Hello forum, Can somebody educate me on the benefits of this objective (as compared to the 40x/0.85 or 0.95 air versions)? There is very little NA gain from actually oiling the sample. What is the main point of the iris on the objective? What are the intended uses for this? There are other oil 40x’s...

I got some information after digging around on Facebook, asking lots of people. The cables used are 1:1 MDR cables. They’re expensive but available online from several sources. For the BX61, you will need the 50 pin version (microscope frame, lamp, focus) and the 36 pin version (vertical illuminator...

Brightfield cube in U-RFAA (Olympus), compatible with DICR?

Hello, I’m getting closer to my final setup. While waiting for the final parts of my Oly setup to arrive, I’m thinking about RDIC. I have the DICR, the UPO3, and the U-RFAA. Rather than changing the illuminator to a U-RLAA I wanted to use a brightfield cube U-MBF3, for example. For observation with ...
