Re: Reichert Polyvar

The Iris of your condenser should definitely be fixable. Just like everyone says, it's just a bit 'tedious'. But as long as your patient and careful, it'll work out. It's a matter of overlapping the blades perfectly and keeping them in place as you place the piece 'that holds and guides all the smal...

I will consider any reasonable price. I'd rather they went to a good home and got some use instead of just sitting around here.

This could be catastrophically misleading, and it certainly goes against Western safety norms.

Well, the worse thing that could happen is someone under powers it with a 6V 25W power supply... That's hardly catastrophic. ;)

Re: Reichert Jung Polyvar & Zeiss Jena Microscope and Accessories for Sale

It actually works pretty well I'm just not normally going past 40X much these days. I've seen one in the wild (other than mine) that also had the M28 adapter so I'm assuming others also used it with the Polyvar.

I'm downsizing a bit. If anyone is interested in any of these please let me know. Also, if you have any Polyvar accessories for trade, I may be interested. Re: Zeiss Jena GF Planapochromat 25X Question

I noticed that it's either "A" or "C" like this example. Only Zeiss seems to do this. Perhaps "C" means "Corrected"? But still don't know what the "A" stands for.

Thanks for the reply, makes me feel OK about what I'm currently doing, haha!

To clarify, I meant this 'Sparkle' (https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/amsc ... ns-cleaner). Not sure what's in it though. No Ammonia for sure though.

Re: Oil Immersion - Cleaning technique

It seems the more I read about this the more I get confused... Why isn't there a straight answer to this question? Toilet paper? I would never use toilet paper, but is that because the purists convinced me that would be an awful idea or is there some truth to it? Is there an ideal solvent that works...

Re: Carl Zeiss Jenaval

Upon further inspection, it seems someone modded it by gutting the internal power supply and just using an external one instead--might as well. They had a 15V 150W bulb in there instead of the original 6V. Since I don't have a 15V 150W power supply, I swapped it for a 12V 100W and tested it out. The...

Re: Carl Zeiss Jenaval

These plugs don't look like mains plugs, so I suppose you need a transformer. You can either buy a transformer/s with right voltage and enough power for the bulbs currently in the microscope. Or find some other bulbs which can fit and power them with their matching transformer. A pic or 2 of the wh...

Just acquired a 'new' microscope! But I don't have any way to power it yet so I still don't know how much servicing it'll need to get back up and running. I have a question about these plugs. One of them is for a 150W HBO bulb and another is for a 6V Halogen. Questions are: • Do I need a power suppl...

Re: I'm trying to troubleshoot this issue.

All objectives give the same result, and moving/wiggling the condenser has no effect. There is a parallaxing effect when I loosen the camera from the microscope and shift it around a bit. That's why I thought maybe the dust is sandwiched somewhere between the protective glass of the sensor and the s...

Re: I'm trying to troubleshoot this issue.

Have you found a way to remove them entirely from the sensor in any way? I want to avoid touching the sensor as much as possible since it is brand new. Blowing air doesn't seem to help at all.

Re: I'm trying to troubleshoot this issue.

If I attach my lens to the camera and test for dust particles, none show up. So yeah, I'm really confused. Is it possible the light/refraction in the microscope is creating these somehow?

I'm trying to troubleshoot this issue.

Hi All, I recently bought a new camera Sigma FP and have attached it to my Polyvar microscope. The issue I have is that I have these dark spots on the image. It would seem that they are dust particles on the sensor, but the sensor is absolutely spotless. Could these be particles between the sensor a...

It's a great microscope, you just need to find the parts for it. Also check ebay.co.uk and ebay.at, they have items that aren't listed on ebay.com sometimes and the sellers are willing to ship internationally.

What kind of microscopy will you be doing with it?

Re: Help: Reichert polyvar 2 DIC transmit

For some reason I can't see the photos you posted. The Nomarski only works with the Pol cube. If you are using transmitted light, you don't need the Pol cube or Nomarski prism. If you are using reflected light, then you can use the Pol cube with Nomarski prism for DIC imaging. Try to upload your ima...

Congrats on your purchase! Do you have photos of everything you got? I have a Polyvar '1' with both transmitted and reflected light. I have a mix of objectives as well. Some 28mm, some RMS. When using the RMS, I use an RMS-to-28mm adapter which also extends the objective length by 11mm (if I recall ...

Re: Leica Reichert Polyvar 2 vs Polyvar SC

Photos of the unit would help. The big difference was that the SC was solely made for semi-conductors, I believe it didn't' support transmitted light. The Polyvar 2 will allow you to work with semi-conductors, you'll just need the right parts (if not already included) to get it to work.

Re: Leica Reichert Polyvar 2 vs Polyvar SC

Does it come with the Polarizer Cube and Nomarski Prism? What about any Epi objectives? If you have those, you should be good to go. The parts on the Polyvar are pretty modular/interchangeable, there's not huge differences between the two you mention, but I don't have the 2 to verify, I have the Pol...
