Re: Have 3d printer, will print.

Sounds good.

For some reason, I don't get notifications from this forum. I try to check regularly. PMs are at least flagged on the homepage, so that would be the easiest way right now.

Re: Have 3d printer, will print.

This will be a slow burn. I do not currently own a 3d printer that can duplicate that design. I have the 3d printer that lays a layer of plastic on top of each other, I need need a resin printer that uses uv light to cure the medium to achieve the detail needed.

Step one: design

I have a newborn, so my play time has decreased a bit. I love this idea and will certainly give it a shot

Re: Have 3d printer, will print.

I don’t know how hard this would be to make but what about making a variable leaf dark field stop-photo below-they could come in different sizes for different filter holders 30mm-32mm etc! Regards Ross Now that's pretty darn interesting. I'll look into it. 23mm eyepiece socket and allow you to inse...

Re: Have 3d printer, will print.

I actually had to design a simple adapter to use the filters withy my scope. It was easier to do one part rather than resize 20 something filters.

Re: Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera

I ordered the amscope adapter. If I end up with a raspberry pi camera, I'd probably end up with the adapter anyway. This way, I have a chance to get away with what I already have.

Re: Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera

You might try to get a different reduction lens Anything you could recommend? Or Anything terribly wrong with something like this? https://www.amscope.com/0-5x-c-mount-reduction-lens-for-mu-series-cameras.html Edit: I have a Nikon D7000 camera laying around. It has a crop sensor as opposed to a ful...

I am well satisfied that this is a pretty good setup I know this is an old thread, but I'm considering this setup. Are you still happy with the HQ camera? Are you still using it? I bought one of these .... US $92.42 21%OFF | Full HD 1080P 2K 3800W 38MP HDMI USB Industrial Electronic Digital Video M...

Order of operations?

I've gotten to play with my microscope for a day now, and I have a couple questions: Is there a specific order in which I should be set up the focus? So there is the focus on the eyepiece barrel and the course/fine focus, which comes first? Obviously, I can get things in focus with the course/fine, ...

Your best bet is to use the 40X with 15X eyepieces. The correct ones , cat. # 182 will give you an excellent well corrected image with the 40X and lower objectives.
Am I looking for AO or Reichert branded eyepieces, or both?

Such a wealth of information here, thank you all so much! I'm glad to hear that there is an eyepiece option to bump the mag just a bit more!

Re: My very first compound microscope!

I got some premade slides yesterday and it woooorks it woooorks! Slides are meh, but the scope works. I grabbed some moss and put it on top of the premade slides and got to see my first microorganisms! Blank slides coming today! I'm going to give it a go for a little, but I really think I could go f...

Re: Compound Microscope for Gross Anatomy Observation?

That's good to know. I wasn't sure how easily it would be to pick up additional objectives given that they are infinity plans and I don't really understand how they all relate to each other. I do not see "neo" on the objectives currently on the scope? Or do I need an Neoplan to work with this scope ...

My very first compound microscope!

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50997453891_55986472aa.jpg This is a Reichert MicroStar IV 410, purchased from Ebay yesterday and arrived today! I checked it out as much as I could, given my nonexistent knowledge, and everything appears to be in working order, including the blue and ND filter. ...

Re: Compound Microscope for Gross Anatomy Observation?

That's fair! So obviously there isn't an easily available alternative brand that plays nicely. Oh well. I did a 3 second search and like you said, no 60x, but they do make 50x. That would be close enough. I should probably actually just use the scope first before looking for other stuff. .... what a...

Re: Compound Microscope for Gross Anatomy Observation?

Just received the microscope! I've looked it over and to the best of my limited knowledge, it seems to be in working condition! The light works, the blue filter works, the ND works, and the diaphragm works! I didn't realize it, but all of the objectives are infinity plan achros. I have two additiona...

A simple funnel system with a top light/heat source and a collection vial with alcohol will give a clean sample, with very little plant debris.
Is that the Berlese funnel method?

Re: I bought a set.

At this time of the year, winter in the northern hemisphere, there are literally hundreds of potential subjects in old leaf litter beneath the snow. Such specimens are best extracted using a Berlese funnel but simply rinsing/washing leaf litter in a tray of water containing the smallest amount of d...
