Re: AmScope
Thanks for the feedback, it sounds promising. Any thoughts on this model from the AmScope website: 40X-1000X Infinity-corrected Darkfield Microscope with LED Koehler Illumination and 1.2MP Low-noise Camera https://www.amscope.com/40x-1000x-infinity-corrected-darkfield-microscope-with-led-koehler-ill...

AmScope
Hi all, Curious to know what Amscope’s reputation is like? I am a beginner interested in a biological microscope with 100* oil immersion and high illumination dark field and phase contrast. Their prices seem low but I’m curious to know what their reputation is vs some of the bigger manufacturers and...

Re: New member interested in Laborlux S illumination for enhanced darkfield
Hi Pete, hi all,
Indeed I am struggling to find a suitable 100w - non mercury - lamphousing for the S model.
Could anybody provide any insight on what the process of LED conversion would involve and whether or not it is possible with this scope?
With thanks,
Hugh

Re: New member interested in Laborlux S illumination for enhanced darkfield
Thanks for your input Hobbyst46 - so it looks like I need to be investing in an appropriate 100w bulb, lamp housing and power adapter. Can anyone help me out with the specific part numbers for these items that are compatible with a Leitz Laborlux S type 020-505.030? C44866FE-8189-44A0-9C44-F2E16DD5F...

Re: New member interested in Laborlux S illumination for enhanced darkfield
Hi Pete, Thanks for the info and edit, I think I’m getting to grips with the requirements a bit better now. I have had a rummage in the box that accompanied my scope and come up with a number of additional items. It’s now seems that I have both an additional lamp house and power supply as well as tw...

Re: New member interested in Laborlux S illumination for enhanced darkfield
Hi Pete,
Thanks for your informative reply. It looks like it might well be one of the newer ones - it is off white. I tried attaching a picture but it’s too large. Could you elaborate on the external power supply requirement. Sorry if I am being dense!
Thanks,
Hugh

New member interested in Laborlux S illumination for enhanced darkfield
Hello all! I am a new member with some limited microscopy experience dating back to my Biology degrees in the late 90’s/ early 00’s. I have recently inherited an ex research Laborlux S with darkfield capacity that I am interested in using for live blood analysis. Unfortunately the light source (6v 2...
