Re: Quite Possibly Tapeworm Eggs, Right?
Tape worms and worms in general do not attack or infect the bladder and urinary track but rather the intestinal tracts. It would be extremely rare to find worm eggs in human urine unless of course the urine sample was indeed contaminated with feces.

It's not tape worms. This is what tapeworm eggs look like, from a tape worm I found.

Re: noob question How much of a quality difference between Phase Contrast Suppliers
Curious as to the difference between the quality of say an Amscope Phase Kit versus say a Native Nikon Kit for my Elipse. In astronomy, I would say you have an 80/20 or 70/30 rule where you would get 80 percent of the result for 20 percent of the cost. Curious here about phase and other techniques....

Re: Substitutes for Hay Infusion?
I always add a few grains of white rice to my water sample tanks about once a month. Doing that promotes bacterial growth which in turn promotes life of all sorts. Especially amoeba. If you basically want infinite amoeba, add some grains of white rice. I for some reason get lots of amoeba choas. But...

I have no expeieriance with Nikon objectives. I have the Amscope phase kit. Before that I was using the stock Amscope objectives. When I installed the phase plan objectives they were outstandingly far better than the stock objectives. Everything bout them was better. Except for whatever reason phase...

100% pure Canada Balsam for me. I don't have any xylene and I'm sensitive to chemicals so I haven't bothered. Then I seal the cover slips with clear gorilla glue. Those slides will still be good 100 years from now. Made right here in Canada. And if I get a cold, I could always swig a spoon full like...

Ok, so I ordered my microscope and the slides and coverslips and now I'm confused. I heard I had to clean the coverslips and slides before use even if it's pre-cleaned so I took them all out but then there was this paper thingy in between each of the slides and surrounding the coverslips. Like the ...

Re: is Peranema an amoeba ??
Your creature is certainly a flagellate amoeba. Amoebae with flagella occur in a variety of groups. It is certainly possible that the one you recorded is a free-living single-celled myxomcyete (i.e. the amoeboid phase of a slime mould). Wait, what? An Ameoba can be a slime mould? Geez man, there is...

Re: Knurled ring on 60X objective
If it is an Amscope objective, it will have a wide spaced knurled ring so that when you look at all the objectives in the storage box it is identified as a plan objective. Other objectives will not have that type of knurled ring. Greg That's interesting. I never noticed that before. Good eye, dude.

Re: Knurled ring on 60X objective
If it's just a regular objective with no controllable iris, then the knurled ring has only two purposes. 1. To make it easier to screw in and unscrew. 2. To make it look cooler looking than an objective with no knurled ring. If I read correctly on previous threads, you bought an Amscope? If so, than...
