Re: Suitable condenser replacement for Olympus vanox Ah-aac?

I have a CH-2 with stock condenser and had to get the CH2 FH snap in filter holder for it. For polarizing, I use a 40.5mm camera filter over the illuminator and put a small piece of polarizing film under the head.

Re: a daisy flower head taken under the microscope

Very nice images and I like the progression from macroscopic to microscopic. There are several articles in the archives of Micscape Magazine (online) of a similar nature. I don't remember the author but I always enjoyed reading them. I hope to see more of your excellent work.

Re: Brand new to microscopy

If you can find a compatible 20X objective to go in the empty hole in the nosepiece, it will be a great addition to your viewing options.

Great book. It can be found in sections in (and downloaded from) the archives of Micscape Magazine at http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk.

Re: Can these be saved?

Success! Soaking slides overnight in xylene and coverslips came right off. Cleaned the slides carefully, applied fresh mountant and a new coverslip. A little messy but final result looks great. Thanks to all.

Can these be saved?

These are two of several human histology slides from 1978. Can the cover slides be removed and replaced with new mountant? I've read about soaking the slide in acetone/xylene to remove the old coverslip. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6dlnx6zy...

Re: Olympus BH-2 objectives

From what I've learned on this forum, many manufacturers' microscopes, Olympus included, are designed so the eyepieces correct some of the optical qualities of their objectives, such as spherical and chromatic abberation. Therefore, the scopes perform best when eyepiece and objective are from the sa...

You didn't mention magnification and I'm no expert, but I think it's plant fiber. This is based on seeing similar images in the past. I'm sure someone will correct or confirm my suspicion.
