There is some blue color visible in dark field that I could not see in bright, so maybe it is coeruleus? 10x objective dark field...

Thanks! I collected the sample from silver lake near Philadelphia, pa. I had the sample for about a week before I made the video. I used a normal slide with thick algae and plant matter to keep them from getting squished. There are views from 4x, 10x, 20x, and 40x objectives. Most are indicated in t...

Next to Rotifers, I think Hypotrich might be the most common critters I have been seeing in my samples. I love to watch them "walk" on surfaces.

On the YT channel "Journey to the Microcosmos" they mention taking a collapsible selfie stick and attaching a small container to the end. Also, similar to the bucket and rope suggestion, they will sometimes use a plankton net with a fine mesh.

They are usually kind of oval shaped and usually found inside the shed skin of it's momma.

oh yeah, those egg pods looked even cooler in dark field, but it moved too much to get multiple images for focus stacking when I was doing dark field
