Re: Lafayette 1500x manual
Too bad there is not a section of this forum with detailed microscope histories with pictures. I’m not sure why, but I really enjoy reading the background on the microscopes - their manufacturing trail, rationale for designs, and uses... I suppose there are way too many variations to cover every mak...

Re: Lafayette 1500x manual
Wow, thank you for all of that detail! I wonder if there is a way to tell the age of the microscope by the number. I think there were 5x, 10x, and 15x eyepieces along with 5, 10, 40 and 100xoil objectives. I could be wrong, though. I need to take a closer look.

Lafayette 1500x manual
So, today my dad showed me a microscope he’s had in storage for years after it was given to him by his brother. It’s a Lafayette 1500x. From searching this forum, I was able to track down an old catalog listing. However, I have not been able to find any manuals on line. Does anyone have a link to a ...

Re: Looking for NFK 2.5x LD relay lens and Olympus OM L phototube
Carl, thank you for the information about the WHK lenses.
Kirby, $500 is a bit much for me, but I’ll look around the Martin site, anyway.
I should be receiving a phototube and relay lens late next week so I’ll almost be ready to connect my camera.
I really appreciate everyone’s help!

Re: Looking for NFK 2.5x LD relay lens and Olympus OM L phototube
Carl and Kirby, thank you for those price expectations. It helps. Looking in the forum, I see others have purchased alternatives from eBay sellers (newhoper and 66x), so I may try one of their phototube substitutes if I cannot find the OM L. I sent a price request to York and will post their respons...

Re: Looking for NFK 2.5x LD relay lens and Olympus OM L phototube
Kirby, I’ve seen 3.3x, but no 2.5x LD in my recent searches. I will keep looking, it must be one of those infrequently listed parts. Maybe someone here will have one to sell. I’ve read over the information on Alan Wood’s site, some areas several times. There is a lot of information there. I had prev...

Re: Looking for NFK 2.5x LD relay lens and Olympus OM L phototube
Thanks PeteM. I actually had messaged both of those sellers asking if those parts were a duplicate of/could be used in place of the OM L phototube, but I did not hear back from one and the other did not address my questions. I can message them again, but maybe someone will have the parts available h...

Re: Where to buy slides and #1.5 coverslips
I ended up buying some of the #1’s. I know I’ll be doing some sloppy slides at first, and/or maybe they will work well if I want a gap between the slide and coverslip. I added the eBay 1.5’s to my watchlist so I can buy a box later.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Microscope hunting
All of the knowledgeable help on this forum made me think through what I wanted to do/see - not just when I first got a microscope, but once I got oriented to its use. It was important to me that I be able to use whatever microscope I ended up with for many years. I narrowed down to the BH2 BHS firs...

Cause of scratches on objective
Looking on eBay:

What would cause these scratches?
Maybe this question belongs in the beginner corner. If so, maybe someone can move it there. Thank you.
