Re: LOMO Mbp-1
Some photos showing how my illuminator works with a lomo microscope. The illuminator is connected to a laboratory power supply. A Chinese 30V 2A lab power supply costs in Poland 40 £. Re: LOMO Mbp-1
Attention, Russian bulbs are, if I'm not mistaken, 8V 20W. You have to find adequate power supply . I suggest you my solution. If you want to adapt the Russian illuminator, a led of one W is enough. 3W is the equivalent of a 20-30W halogen if not more.

Re: LOMO Mbp-1
I recently built an illuminator for a mirror microscope with a 3W cree XP-G led. Its luminous flux is 460 lm. It gives an illumination equivalent to a halogen of 20-30W. I used a 40x40x6 mm radiator, but it is enough to use a 40 mm diameter jar cover which is installed in place of the mirror. I used...

Re: Copepod and Rotifer 3D
This 3D aspect is due firstly to the large depth of field of 20-25x objectives, approximately 7-10x greater than that of 40x objectives. In addition, they accept without deterioration of the image a significant closure of the diaphragm under the condenser which makes it possible to further increase ...

Probably it is a freshwater oligochaete, "cousin" of the earthworm. Some are quite spectacular. I apologize for the quality of this picture I took at the start of my adventure with the microscope. Canon a 590 is, photo by eyepiece.

Re: New 3D lighting system (DIY)
I think you did some kind of oblique lighting by deflecting some of the light rays from your illuminator. I get the same result with a black patch under the condenser. It is very easy with a 20x objective and more difficult with a 40x. I'm glad it works well with a 25x. With a 1.5x head and a 25x ob...

Re: Achieving oblique illumination with motic ba310e
I believe that in case of oblique lighting it is essential to use a mat filter. One should put the mat filter in the filter holder under the condenser and place the stop patch on the filter and not on the illuminator. I also noticed that it helps to raise the condenser as high as possible. 2 example...

Rotifers in oblique light
I did several pictures of rotifers in oblique light. This lighting makes it possible to show their volume. Obviously, sometimes internal details are lost, but it depends on the angle of the lighting. Picture n.2 was taken with an old 590 compact and was taken with a 1 / 2.3 matrix through the eyepie...

Re: What is a Pumkin Seed?
I took this picture with an old compact canon 590 is from 2007 with a 1 / 1.7 matrix (7.6mm x 5.7mm) and not with a canon 650D :). With the raynox 4x, the kiwi kernel has about 3 mm in the frame. The magnification is not very large. These small grains often have an unexpected appearance. Here is a p...

Re: What is a Pumkin Seed?
Two years ago I also photographed seeds, but I used my old 650 is cannon with an adapter tube and a raynox. I got a frame whose base was 1.5mm. The most interesting was a kiwi kernel. In my opinion, that makes a magnification of 100x. I made the stand with an old school microscope. The photo is made...

Re: Meridion circulare and others diatoms in DF
I am using a 20x PZO achro objective and a trino head with a magnification factor of 1.5x, which together gives 30x. A 20x gives you all the lighting effects, unlike a 40x. To get a DF effect I use a patch that I presented in the post from the 27th of September. It allows to switch from BF to DF wit...

The google translator translated something wrong :( This is an antique canon a 650 is with a 1 / 1.8 matrix 12 years old. It is very good if you present your photos only on the net. I do not use filters. "Extreme oblique lighting " that I practice gives black and white photos. I color the photos in ...

Re: Diatom resolution
Hello, My method is less complicated. I used a nikon 40x CFN plane objective and an old compact 650 is + a 2.5x projective eyepiece. The lighting is very oblique. It gives a black and white photo. The round diatom has 50 micrometers in circumference.Mount in water. https://i.imgur.com/REK22Is.jpg ht...

Hello, Here are some pictures taken 6 years ago, when I started to get interested in microscopes. I find that...

Re: Diatom 640X Oblique Illumination
The condenser on the photo is the P51 condenser from the Polish biolar PZO microscope. It has a movable diaphragm. I place my filter in the slit above the diaphragm. The condenser mat filter is not used. You have to find a semi-opaque plastic sheet, mat on one side. You can see its density in the ph...

Re: Diatom 640X Oblique Illumination
I know Mathias' arrow, but I think my method is more versatile. It requires a lot of light and I made a 13W "Kohler fixed" illuminator with an old condenser. Most 80-100 ISO photos are good. Here is what I can do with this material. In some photos the water bear is seen from below. https://i.imgur.c...
