Bee's mouth

So I was checking out some stereoscopes on the interwebs to shoot close up insect pics with. This morning I was walking out the door and spotted a dead bee on my front step. I picked it up lamenting how awesome it would be to have a stereoscope for some pics. Undeterred I stuck it on a slide and was...

Re: Am I being overly sensitive?

Live view through the stereo microscope is good for everyone. Found this little lady crawling across my shop floor and she agreed to a few quick pics with my cell phone. My basement is a favorite hideout for Wolf spiders. They're a very effective and inexpensive pest control solution! IMG_28102020_...

Nice! I wish I was near a natural body of water.
I use a bird bath a few feet from my door. No end of stuff swimming around in there!

New to you or new new?
New to me. Too much used lab equipment out there to go new new.

Getting used to this now. Getting scared...

So I'm about $12,000 into my astrophotography hobby and now I'm considering a new Olympus microscope. I might need an interdiction at this point.

Tapeworm eggs at what I believe is 1000x. Focus stacked in CS6.

What the heck is this?

When I picked up my microscope the guy I bought it from gave me a few commercial slides. This one was marked "Daphne sp". Any idea what it is? It's my first attempt at focus stacking.

Re: First time with my new scope and old camera

Really vivid colors and very good sharpness. What camera are you using? It was probably my Canon 5D Mark II but it might have been my Rebel Xti. I would rather use the Rebel because the AmScope reducer is designed for C size sensors and the image goes nicely across the full frame. However it doesn'...

First time with my new scope and old camera

This is my first attempt at microscopic photography. I mean other than putting my phone up against the eyepiece. I've only had the scope for a few days and just got the camera adapter the day before yesterday. Hope I'm doing this right. SpinalCordCS_LF.jpg SpinalCordCS_DF.jpg PineNeedle_DF.jpg Bassw...

Re: Am I being overly sensitive?

Thanks, everyone. I feel better now.

I definitely won't be viewing any insects. At least with this microscope. Not really sure how deep I want to go into this particular rabbit hole yet. Even though I was looking at some $1500 objectives  .

Am I being overly sensitive?

Ok, stupid question from a newbie.. I just scored a halfway decent scope and accessories off craigslist to keep me entertained while the sky is screwed up for astro stuff. While trying to get some pollen off a rose a few bugs fell out. Tiny damn things too. so I throw a slide cover on and hoped to c...

Going from the very big to the very small

I picked up a AmScope T690B off of craigslist yesterday and I am jazzed to have something to do when the weather sucks for my astrophotography. I ordered an EOS adapter and a cleaning kit from AmScope last night and am looking forward to checking out this sight for some photo ideas. I really like th...
