Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
I'm glad to hear it's in good optical condition. A nice stereo is a bit of a gamechanger, so easy to use without any specialized prep. The only "surprise" for me was, that you have to move specimen by hand. Microscope comes with 100 quite big and thick slide glasses. Not sure how to use them. I fee...

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
Got Citoval 2. Looks almost not used. I am impressed by optical image. Very clear, bright, hips of magnification power. Very happy overall, as this might be more useful for my current hobby than even compound microscope. Main practical interest is to distinguish between fungal and not fungal problem...

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
Ordered Citoval 2. Not sure if it is the right choice, but that's a top of my budget and I need a tool for my hobbies. Could try to find MBS-10 in good condition but preferred this one for some reason. Not sure how to check in in post office. Plan just to put money bill under it and try to focus. Pl...

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
Mistyped, sorry. Words objective and ocular still sometimes interchange inside my head.
Will stick to terms microscope objective, eyepiece and camera lens from now.
Thank you.

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
Got it. Adapter screws on to a camera lens with one end and fixes microscope objective with another end. Was confused with first picture - it appears that camera is closer to an intermediate image location (seemed like no eyepiece there). My Sony NEX-5n has longer objective (with 3x zoom). Will it w...

Here are some other options. Seems that this person buys stereo microscopes used from States, services them and sells. He is in the same city as I, so can check in person.

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
For me a stereo microscope is most useful in the range 7-40x magnification and just for observation, not photography. Why stereo is bad for photography? I do not pretend to make photos for esthetics on such a budget. But it will be useful to have a picture for sharing/discussing on the internet. My...

Thank you. Very helpful, as I am doing my first steps in understanding stereos.
Is there any popular hobby oriented articles or websites on stereo microscopes? Maybe a list of models, that are worth buying / practical in hobby use?

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
It looks almost not used. Has 2 light sources - 1) lamp on an arm and 2) box with two fiber light wires (not sure whats the right name of those). And a stative I like that it is a modular zeiss device, that can be upgraded to 3rd ocular for camera. Only other trinocular stereo microscope on local ma...

Re: Zeiss Citoval 2
On pictures it looks like it is in good condition.
How can i check it remotely? If owner has no experience with microscopes?
I would be able to check it in post office before paying for it. What should I look for if I have 5-7 minutes?
Thank you.

Zeiss Citoval 2
Hello
I found a Citoval 2 stereo microscope for sale in good condition.
According to manual it seems a fine modular stereo microscope with very high magnification possibility. Up to 100x-300x.
Can someone comment on that model? Maybe someone has experience using it?
Thank you. Regards.

Forgot about parfocality. Thank you for the link.viktor j nilsson wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 10:23 pmOne thing you can try is to raise the eyepiece a bit, and lower the camera. This way you can get a lower magnification while maintaining parfocality.

Re: Olympus BHA buying tips
Got your idea.
Just a theoretical question. If photo tube will be shorter that "OM-Mount Photomicro Adapter L". Will the image be still in focus on the camera or not in focus? If yes, than making shorter tube should remove crop effect.

BH2 is much more popular, as I understood. But I am trying to find a microscope locally first. Shipping of something that big is problematic right now. Local market is quite small. There is a cheaper PZO option. But I like that Olympus is well documented. Should be easier to learn technical aspects....

Re: Microscope compatible with Sony nex-5n camera
It does not have a fixed lens. I use a next generation version of it, also with an E mount and couple the bayonet on a d.i.y. adapter to the trinocular photo tube. I've used the same arrangement on a binocular with a coupler that clamps on the eyepiece tube. I can capture the entire f.o.v.. Entire ...

Thank you. Very informative. I will not use bleach on a microscope I think, maybe first time on very exposed parts. Will use 70% alcohol. I made a box with 70 Watt UV lamp inside. So, try to find out the history of the equipment and clean/disinfect it without damaging. Understood.
My question about fungus in objectives was not about getting sick of it. Just curious if it happens.
And how to remove fungus from inside of it? Taking objective apart?
