Re: Amoeba

Picture looks good to me.

Does that thing need to take a dump? I saw a rotifer taking a dump last night but had the camera off.

Re: Yellowish to yellow green

Thanks everyone! What I have going for the time being- is that DOT LED tap light with a plastic Shop Rite cashews can plastic lid over it to dim it and lessen the "several lights thing." It is sort of a foggy clear plastic. The image still looks better through the eye pieces than the camera to compu...

Re: Stink Bug:

The stink bugs in NJ are not like either one of those. A little fatter than the one on the leaf. They made a big thing about 3 years ago and there were a lot then that it was going to be an epidemic with them and I scarcely see them for years now. GOOD!!!!!!!

Re: Yellowish to yellow green

Thank You! Blue filter also good idea. I ran over to Lowe's and for 12 bucks picked up- 2 LED (7 candles) bulbs AND A LED DOT IT tap light. BTW looks like the box was rewired esp because of lamp cord and switch on cord. And don't use 409 or Fantastic to clean yours because it removed some letters. O...

RMS thread standards

Royal Microscopical Society issued- specs for threads and dimensions etc... some parts for microscopes. See I like that. You can interchange objective lens and stuff like that. What do people think about AmScopes or whoever who doesn't bother with that. I don't like it personally. That's why I want ...

Yellowish to yellow green

I just got a used old- Bausch & Lomb WM1600 Stereo Microscope with a Graf-Apsco light. It is a fight to get a whitish screen and it isn't quite as bad in the eye pieces view as what the camera picks up to the computer screen, but still.... yellowish to even yellow green. Sort of like white walls whe...

Victorian Age vs. Today's Opportunities

The antique 1800s and for that matter early 1900's microscopes were probably owned and used by rich people only. Or perhaps you could access one if you were a servant working at their house and they let you use it. Even things like watches were like this. Today anyone can buy a watch or even a micro...

Gekko, Yes trying to get a more natural look now so less saturation. Those videos are the chopped down sections put together. I filmed hours!!!!!!!!!! I use Windows Movie Maker and cut out the parts I do not want. My videos are not for most people, just my tastes. I feel I do not cater to people who...

Re: Beginner Videos

Actually my videos sometimes are long because I like to watch their behavior. And some of them are very slow. Why does this little organism drag a plant part across an area? Why do these ones rub by each other? Are Rotifers playing like seals with each other? If you do not care about watching them m...

Re: Hi from Dennis

I contacted AmScope and they said they will tell their factory of the problem I had.

I am getting a Nikon scope off Ebay for about 138. They look them over and test them they said.

Birds and their role in pond life

I have two bird baths. When I get water samples it is noted each one will have a separate species and usually (unless we are getting really small) only one species- Say one will have rotifers. Another time it will have something else. Yes I change the water is why. I think bird droppings bring the e...

If anyone has a AmScope and never had the turrent screw come loose, I am thinking maybe at the factory they put the washer or whatever on wrong. (something stupid like that) which woul...

Hi from Dennis

Well.... In March I was out of work for a month with a medical problem and thought about the "Visible Man model" and looked it up on Amazon.com. I was thinking "I do not even know much about my body in ways." Well one thing led to another and I remembered the Sears chemistry set and microscope I had...
