Hello everyone,
this morning, observing a sample of water from a flooded field, I met and photographed a pretty diatom.
Could someone help me identify it?
Location: Italy
Thank you.

Closterium moniliferum?
Hello everyone,
this morning with my glorious Leitz SM (and its 60's Apo objectives) I photographed a desmid that looks like the Closterium moniliferum. Could it be him?
Location of discovery: flooded field - Italy
Cheers

Hello to all forum friends, today is the turn of a Loxodes (at least I think it is him ...) remained unusually stationary for a few seconds, allowing 5 shots for a decent focus stacking...probably because it's "full belly"! Thanks for your generous compliments, Plasmid and thanks to you too 75RR for your helpful comment. Chydorus with eggs
Hi everyone, once again, I returned to the "Chydorus theme" ... this time, I have photographed a female with two large eggs. The first photo is the "original", with a mixed lighting of BF and 3D ... the second photo is a slightly "Photoshopped" version that simulates the appearance of the dark field...

Tardigrada
Hi everyone,
Finally, yesterday I was able to find (and to take some picture and some video) a couple of tardigrades on some lichens.
This is my first attempt, but I'm planning to return to this topic.
Ciao

Hi Michael ... now you have intrigued me: the link to the post doesn't work and I can't stand it anymore
Parfocal is very useful for absent-minded people like me ... I'm sure I'd always end up banging the non-parfocal objective on the slide

Re: Uncommon Leitz Objective
Thanks MIchael, I hadn't noticed this. But I still don't understand one thing: the great working distance of this objective makes it incompatible with the stand of my Leitz SM, but looking at the brochure I see that the Leitz SM Pol has the same stand as my Leitz SM "Medical" and indeed the thicknes...

Re: Uncommon Leitz Objective
Many thanks, Apochronaut ... your post is very interesting. So, my objective is almost certainly an ELWD lens for petrographic use and the notation "1" indicates low magnification. The image quality is very good indeed, but on my stand it is unusable. I'll try to swap with some other Leitz objective...

Re: Uncommon Leitz Objective
The brochure from which the list comes is dedicated to Leitz polarizing microscopes in general ... SM Pol, Ortholux Pol but also the rare Panphot Pol. The SM microscope I know for sure has a tube length of 170mm ... Unfortunately the pdf file is quite large, even compressed. If you PM me your email,...

Uncommon Leitz Objective
Hi everyone, a few days ago I bought for peanuts an objective Leitz Wetzlar marked "4.3: 1 0.15 170 1b" to pair it with my old Leitz SM microscope, a black enamel "170-tube lenght" already equipped with the complete Apo series ( 12.5x, 25x, 40x ... all 37mm parfocalized). When it arrived home, I imm...
