Re: Are photo eyepieces needed?
Finally got the adapter to mount my camera to the Leica DMLB. . . . N-zilla -- Hoping you can describe in some detail which setup (configuration and source of the adapter) provided you with the best images? I purchased the adapter kit here on ebay . Several parts can be unscrewed and attached to ot...

Re: Are photo eyepieces needed?
I just realized the different pieces of the adapter fits one another. Here's a configuration where the camera sits much lower. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/617428976373202944/803774993883988008/unknown.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/617428976373202944/803774069949726730/DSC0103...

Re: Are photo eyepieces needed?
Finally got the adapter to mount my camera to the Leica DMLB. The adapter I got can be configured with or without an eyepiece. Unfortunately the eyepiece I have has that rotating grip for focus which makes it not fit the adapter. Here are some pictures I got using a Sony a7s ii vs with phone looking...

Are photo eyepieces needed?
I have a trinocular Leica DMLB set-up. I contacted someone on ebay who has a 37mm adapter (also sells various adapters). I asked if an eyepiece goes in there but he said no and thinks that a photo eyepiece is not necessary. Any opinion on this? P.S. Sister in law has an extra Olympus PEN EPL2, but i...

Re: Nikon gene sequencer objectives
The Nikon 20x Plan Apo .17 cover is such a fine objective, at such a great price, that one might be happy just with brightfield, darkfield, oblique, VOILA, pseudo-DIC, Rheinberg etc. Not sure what you mean by the "DML" model, though. DMLS or DMLB but I just remembered DMLS doesn't have the slots on...

Re: Nikon gene sequencer objectives
Amazing objectives for the price and they'll work just fine on something like a Leica DMLS stand which have the same 200mm reference tube length. Maybe minor differences with Leica tube lens corrections, but the Nikon 20x Plan Apo objectives still look great IMO. Do these Nikon 20x PLAN APO work wi...

Re: Nikon gene sequencer objectives
The one with a normal label is the one you want. The other two are also excellent but require a thicker cover slip. This is one of the nicest objectives you will use, it's just great. Just be sure you're ready for the longer parfocal distance, m25 thread and infinity correction. Thanks! Wow. They s...

Re: Nikon gene sequencer objectives
I do see two Nikon OEM product codes (0500-0087 and 1501-9398) and one with the proper labels. Need to get a 20x for regular use, but not sure which one.

Re: overwhelmed with specs and shopping
He is the man if you are looking into a BH2. His repair PDFs have done more to raise the standing of a BH2 within the Big Four than anything else. I read the PDF he sent. Massive help! I have a very good idea what I need now and specific parts. Personally, I think the price is a bit high - it will ...

Re: overwhelmed with specs and shopping
It is worth noting that the BHS linked to has only the phase contrast condenser housing included. It would need to be confirmed if the phase diaphragms are in there. It also does not have any phase contrast objectives. The 100 watt lamp house is great but it has nothing to use it with. In order to ...

overwhelmed with specs and shopping
Finally shopping for my first microscope! Been reading for 30+ hrs total over two weeks. Need a bit of help to double check that I'm heading the right direction. I have an idea what I want to get, but I'm struggling with grasping price/performance. My preferred budget (excluding camera) is $1500 but...
