smollerthings; Have you tried putting a piece of card / paper/ other fine-grained white material over the mirror ... you will get a much less harsh light into your eye. you need Illuminate the card with a some kind of mini table light ...Ikea used to do one.. you move the light closer or further to ...

front group out. On this one the bevelling on outer face doesnt go all the way to the glass , but the bevelling on the inward facing end goes all the way to the glass.
(there is also a faint circular witness mark on the outer glass where it has been cleaned/scratched with the nose shroud on)

Re: LOMO biolam C1

RAF camera sells a flanged adapter that will fit directly into the top of the Lomo's framework in place of the prism head, you will need some extension tubes between the camera and the adapter but this seems a bit less precarious than dangling a heavy camera on the end of the eyepeice tube. Less cha...

-Cigarette lighter fluid (not the gas) is really good at softening the hardened grease and it doesn't have oil in it. Re: Best way to darken a microscope barrel?

Self adhesive material can be tricky... if you get it wrong you can have an annoying problem. If you want to try something else; 2mm thick EVA foam sheet ( a sort of children's craft material ) is not too bad, the stuff I got off amazon in A4 size needed 'airing' for a day or two, due to some solven...

Macro or Micro?

I am always slightly curious whether reflected light photos even if they are taken through a microscope are considered to be macrophotography??? However the Microsoft page says that the download is no longer availble.
So suggestions for good alternatives would be useful :-)

Piggy-backing a camera on a monocular microscope

I have had a lot of fun with this :-) There is a cheap (~£7) but strong clamp that will fit onto most medium-sized monoular tubes (up to about 42mm diameter) onto this one can attach an Arca style camera tripod plate once the clamp's 3/8 inch reducing bush is removed. Clamp and washer and generic Ar...

Re: Using a pair of cameras with a stereo microscope

I have tried this (on a Meiji BM1) and to be quite honest the photos were quite poor :-( If the purpose is to get nice stereo pairs of small stationary things then a really good way to get them is to use an ordinary microscope, do a focus stack, and then ask the software to create a 'synthetic stere...

You do need to turn the knob slowly otherwise you will end up doing a 'click and a half' rather than a click.
Not very sophisticated .. I push it away from the focussing knob with a finger when racking the microscope down.
