Re: Did I make a mistake? AmScope T120?

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the helpful replies. It sounds like I'm missing a part somewhere. I'm also going to look into the cell phone mount and possibly one for my DSLR as well. I don't know if your missing a part or not, just sounds like you might be. Really just depends on your set-up, I ha...

Re: Did I make a mistake? AmScope T120?

A photo would be helpful maybe of your set-up. It sounds as though you may be missing a small eyepiece tube/adapter for the camera port if you can see the threaded part exposed. That's a C mount size fitting for screwing a camera directly to the camera port. Normally there's a small tube threaded on...

Re: [Help] siedentopf head tightening

I don't know if it's exactly the same as on the Swift 380T but here's how I adjusted mine after a strip down. Push both sides/eyepieces as low as the go which is the same as as close together as they can be. Now look from above and you will see a retaining screw (slotted) and 2 tension set screws (s...

Re: Concerns on SW380T condenser

PeteM and Wolf, thanks for your input. It’s so hard to choose. I have decided I want to buy new, I’m weird that way! Wolf, nice image and nice job tracking. Was that a Euplotes? I'm still new to all these tiny critters but I think that is a rotifer in the dark field trial video I linked, thank you ...

Re: Concerns on SW380T condenser

It has a removable condenser, it's just mounted in a different way and actually attached to the bottom of the stage. There is no standard dark field condenser upgrade option offered by Swift, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. You can certainly mount a dark field condenser to the swift 380, jus...

What is the camera you are using and how are you connecting it? Any reduction optics? Have you adjusted the photo-tube till parfocal with the eyepieces, little bit more info will help others.

Re: How to clean coverslips?

All my cheaper cover slips (slides as well) say they are clean but were in fact grubby with pollutants and smears. I just use small amount liquid soap/detergent and warm tap water in a steel bowl and wash them all by hand, I then rinse twice in bowls of clean distilled water (very hard water here). ...

Re: Upgrading a basic microscope

Omax is another of the bunch of companies in China producing microscopes, pretty sure you will find Omax will have DIN plan level objectives that will fit this scope, I have seen black DIN Semi Plan 160/0.17 objectives under the Omax branding. (look exactly like the standard acro objectives on the S...

Re: Swift SW380T or OMAX model (B005TJ5CEG)

That's good to hear. However a look at Aliexpress reveals a bunch of objectives of varying sizes, many of which seem like they may work just based on the similarity of the numbers written on them but which don't list DIN as a metric. If you could perhaps provide a link to what you got I could work ...

Re: Swift SW380T or OMAX model (B005TJ5CEG)

I have the Swift SW380T. I am enjoying it very much. The optical quality is very good. I did replace the 100X oil objective with a dry 60X. The 100X works as it should, but it doesn’t fit my purposes well. Where did you get the 60x eyepiece? I would like to do the same! Thanks so much! It's easy to...

What about the optics in the binocular head itself ? Maybe it's there if you can clearly see it, I know I had a finger print in that spot on my 380T.

The microtome: Cheap as it is one would expect chewing gum automat toy qualtity. But no, for the money it is actually very good. Typically products are let down by single drawbacks, especially cheap products. The hand microtome really is not great, but it doesn't have any really weak points and is ...

Really gives an interesting and different effect though focus definition and contrast isn't as good/strong. Also found it fairly challenging to track/follow subj...
