Re: Swift SW200 Microscope
Following this thread. I had a Swift M3 (or was it an M2?) recommended to me around a decade and a half ago as a "good field scope." I'd turned it down on the basis of it being limited to 400x, and my work (fungal systematics) requiring the observation of features only visible at 1000x. Still, the "...

Freezing Microtome Setup
Hello MicrobeHunter Community, I have a question regarding the building/assembling of a freezing microtome for use in mycological sample preparation. I have twice posted on this subject over at amateurmicroscopy.net/photomacrography.net: https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=43...

Re: WTB Physitemp BFS MP-3/MP-5 Freezing Stage Controller and Stage
the stage that the controller freezes is not the microscope stage, but the microtome stage, which is where sections are prepared. once sliced, they needn't remain frozen, and in fact ought to return to room temperature.

Hello MicrobeHunter, My name is Danny Newman, and I'm a non-professional mycologist and parataxonomist, focusing primarily on the fungi of the South American Andes and certain "neglected" groups across the world. I am always in the process of slowly assembling my home lab (minus DIC/Nomarski which s...

WTB Physitemp BFS MP-3/MP-5 Freezing Stage Controller and Stage
Hello MH, I am seeking to replicate a home setup like this one: https://i.imgur.com/zzoDcBO.jpg I already own an American Optical/Spencer 880 microtome. The sales reps at PhysiTemp tell me that the MP-3 and MP-5 (as well as the older TC equivalents, but they're much larger and heavier) are the only ...
