Re: Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

So I removed the tube and chimney, and it looks like I can't get a good image from the opening. Any ideas?

Re: Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

So, would I need to remove the tube that is inside the tube? It just twists off, right? I can't really get an image from the tube unless there is an eyepiece there, so that's what I am assuming has to happen. Its just feels almost stuck on (I've tried twisting it off). Also for eyepieces: would chea...

Re: paraffin

In the past, I have used pure paraffin and obtained ribbon sections with a rotary microtome. It may be a little more finicky, but certainly doable for a lot of samples (my class in uni all used it instead of Paraplast) Also, without DMSO and the other additives, I was much more comfortable using it ...

Re: Budget camera for a Nikon AFX-II on a Labophot?

So I decided to look at a sample through the trinocular. I couldn't get a good image from the top without an eyepiece (a 23mm fits well in the holder, and the afx eyepiece can set on top). I couldn't get a clear image through the afx eyepiece when it was on the trinocular either, so I am assuming I ...

Re: Budget camera for a Nikon AFX-II on a Labophot?

Thank you for the diagram! It looks like mine may be missing the CF PL lens, is that right? The link is a lot of information! :) May be a little too technical for me, but I'll give it my best shot. I am very much a beginner in this field as you all may have already determined. Edit: So, the structur...

Re: Budget camera for a Nikon AFX-II on a Labophot?

It looked like there was a lens there at first, but I looked closer and it does not seem as though there is a lens/photo eyepiece in the tube. There is one further down, but that is much closer to the base.

Re: Budget camera for a Nikon AFX-II on a Labophot?

Hi all, Thank you all for your suggestions! I think it is a T photo port, and not an F, sadly, as it has the pull bar for changing the viewing between the eyepieces and the photo port. It also has a lens in the tube. I think there are two small screws on the side of the photo port to remove it? I wi...

Re: Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

I hope I don't need infinity objectives for this. :? I am also unsure about how to adapt this trinoc to a camera. Does anyone have experience with the AFX setup? It looks like the top has a larger lens/projection than I am familiar with seeing from trinoculars. I figure to work with the non-infinity...

Budget camera for a Nikon AFX-II on a Labophot?

Hi all, I just obtained an AFX-II trinocular that I am trying to convert. Does anyone have a suggestion for a VERY budget camera for this build? I am kind of leaning toward a Nikon J1 or Coolpix 5000 if nobody convinces me otherwise. I know it would be more or less squandering the larger FOV, but th...

Re: Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

MichaelG, yes I believe that is what that's referring to, oops!
Regardless, I do not see any, most are 10 or 20, with the occasional 22 or 23. I'm probably just not searching hard enough/in the right places! I have seen Nikon lenses with the 25, but not the 26.5 yet.

Re: Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

Thank you for the info Scarodactyl! I guess I have thought of a few more questions. Would eyepieces like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/254441689548?hash=item3b3de811cc:g:768AAOSwiIhd5gGI&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8FNh6%2Fh2jyeMrh0Ns05QaX5EtsQQbeXbM7XgT0hWxBSyQRvClwkNdmWAW7N%2BBuMHdI6gc3F9u8dLT7Y6Td5eQ3i...

Labophot trinocular and eyepeices

Hello all, I am looking to get a trinocular head for a Nikon Labophot 2 I have. I found one with an AFX-II Camera Shutter Adapter Eyepiece and looks to be UWF. Would it be compatible with my scope? I would also need eyepieces for it, and I believe they would need to be 30 mm. Is that correct? If so ...

Cassette Sample holder?

Hi all, I have an old AO 820 rotary microtome with the original sample holder. Unfortunately that means that it is not big enough to accommodate modern standard cassettes. Does anyone know of somewhere that sells smaller than standard cassettes or some workaround without shelling out $250+ for a new...

Re: Best quality budget imaging for binocular Nikon Labophot-2

Right now I just have a phone with an OK camera and a couple of those phone holders for the eyepiece on one of the binocular eyepieces. Just looking to improve my image quality, FOV, and reproducibility, and decrease the finickiness.

Best quality budget imaging for binocular Nikon Labophot-2

Hi all! I have a Nikon Labophot-2 with a binocular head, and am wondering what the next step up from a eyepiece phone holder is in terms of image quality. I am a starving academic right now, so my budget is pretty low, but I was wondering if there is some way I can get better quality images on the c...

Re: Eyepeice camera?

It depends what you mean by on the cheap. Some of the coolpix models were very well regarded as affordable microscope cameras, and adapters for them can be quite inexpensive at times. Unfortunately it's been a while and they're getting kind of long in the tooth as cell phines have eaten the point a...

Eyepeice camera?

Sorry if this belongs in the Camera section of the forum (kinda new here). I just bought a Nikon Labophot with plan objectives. It unfortunately does not have a trinocular head (maybe something to get down the line a bit), but I would really like to get some good images with it on the cheap. I heard...

What is this epi illuminator?

Hi all I am relatively new to all this. Could anyone tell me what brand this guy is? I have been searching all over the place. The seller eluded that it might be an omax but I haven’t seen anything similar. I am suspecting it is another Chinese company though. Any thoughts?
