Re: BX stage on BH2 substage
Is there a reason you'd want to do this? Is the BX stage better in some way? I was thinking about adapting my BH2 stage to my BX carrier. But if it's inferior... Seems like an awful large pain in the butt if one could just get one that pops right on instead. They are both very similar in constructi...

Light sources - buying guide & specs-
Hi all,
Im looking for external light source, to give more light to my Olympus ILLD stand.
I see a lot of external light sources between 200-300W, for endoscopes etc.
What should be my consideration for choosing one?
Thank you

Re: Zeiss stage controller
Oh, I've just found the add for it, from a 1988 magazine.
It appears to be a microinjection manipulator, I've always dreamt injecting a rotifer DNA to coleps!

Zeiss stage controller
Hi, I've stumbled this Zeiss controller, the seller asks for around 150$, without the joystick (for some reason he wants to keep it). Can I somehow adapt it to control my BHS? Im not looking for photo stacking programing, more like real time motion controlling for videography. Is it worth it at all?...

Re: 1st steps in Stereo microscopy
The illd is a bit underpowered in darkfield. Maybe a fiber optic light source could be adapted, or an LED? When you say zooming/focusing is diagonal, do you mean it doesnt stay in focus as you zoom in? There is a procedure for this--zoom all the way in and focus with the focus knob, then zoom out a...

Re: 1st steps in Stereo microscopy
You probably did not think of it anyway, but if so - better not replace the 20w lamp within the base with a stronger halogen bulb. Might cause severe heat damage. The microscope magnification is already 1-6.3x ; from my own working experience (not photography) I would not add a 2x Barlow lens. At t...

1st steps in Stereo microscopy
Hi, I've got my self an Olympus SZ6045TR, the price was really good for itself, and the Icing was the SZH-ILLD & NFK 1.67 installed. Im well trained with compound mics, but got some questions about stereo in general, and this model in particular. Sorry for the long post: * Ive noticed that zooming/f...

Re: BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
I'll try tomorrow to adjust the mechanical length of the phototube, maybe it'll balance it. The manual makes it sound like that is normally fixed with adhesive after being set, so probably not something you want to adjust casually unless all other possibilities are eliminated or it looks like it ha...

Re: BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
Not sure, but possibly FOV might be different between normal eyepiece and NFK, or vary in a confusing way as the image positions are changed relative to the NFK. Probably better to measure a know distance on the micrometer in pixels at each sensor distance, then use the specified pixel pitch of you...

Re: BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
Apart from Magnification difference of about 0.4X... Do you have a stage micrometer or some other reference so you can tell if one of sensor distances is giving the rated 2.5X magnification of the NFK? yes, great idea. well, at x4 objective and x10 eyepiece, FOV @ eyepiece is 4.9 mm. camera (with N...

Re: BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
Not sure what the 151/185 difference would correspond to in terms of intermediate image position (are the NFK behaving similar to a lifted eyepiece with real intermediate image, or more like a teleconverter with no real intermediate image?) but seems like a pretty large difference. Have you compare...

Re: BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
Assuming you're using an OEM setup, you might double check diopter adjustments on your eyepieces to see if they are set to the zero position to begin. Get your DSLR in focus on the trinocular tube, then adjust the eyepieces to be in focus for your eyes. Thanks Pete, I've already did what you sugges...

BH2 to DSLR distance confusion
Hi,
I've mounted my EOS 6D on a BH2 trino (NFK 2.5) with the suggested distance of 151 mm to the focal plane.
Parfocality is then off by 76 um.
When I mount the camera at 185 mm, then its perfectly parfocal.
Is that normal? what distance should I follow?
Thanks'
Ariel
