Re: Axioskop bulb

BTW, I heard if you put a 100W bulb in the Zeiss Axioskop, you risk burning it's power supply. The Light housing is made to support up to 100W, but the Axioskops power supply only supports 50W (I believe there is a 50W labelling in the back of the skop). Some of the "Fluorescence-equipped" Zeiss Axi...

BTW, the picture you are showing is of a Zeiss Axioskop 50 (also sometimes labeled EL-EINSATS, for some reason I'm not to sure about).

For fun, I also bought these "1pc 10X 22mm / 23mm Wide Filed Stereo Microscope Eyepiece Diopter Adjustable" cheap chinease generic eyepieces just to test and see if Zeiss Axioskop could support 23 mm eyepieces (50 bucks is cheap for a set of two new eyepieces) Link here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253...

Re: Zeiss Axioskop eye pieces

What came standard with the Axio skop 50 (or the Axioskop 20) are the Pl 10x/20 (model 44 40 32) eyepieces (with a 20 mm field of view). (BTW: Axioskop 50 have a 50W external halogen lighting housing system, while the Axioskop 20 has a built-in (under the field diaphragm) 20W light source). The Axio...

Re: What magnifications do pathologists typically work with?

Being a pathologist myself, I thought I can share my experience/observations: Nowadays pathology scopes are typically equipped with 2X, 4X, 10X, 20X, 40X and some with an additionnal 1X and 63X objectives as well (the advantage is that the 63X is a dry objective, whearas a 100X is typically an oil i...

Awesome post. I too am a proud canadian owner of an axioskop 50. My setup here with plenty of pics: https://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12711 I had my farir share of unresolved challenges with adapting this scope. 1) First, I needed an unobtainable part (445265) so I c...

That looks very tempting ... but I must resist ! Being in England, the total cost of purchasing it could be considerable. Although I regret not having one, I’m not really ‘looking for’ an Axioskop. My sign-ff comment says it all really. Many thanks for thinking of me though. MichaelG. True shipping...

Re: solvent information required

what about an "aromatic" solvent such as xylene or toluene ? I tried n-heptane. Nothing, quick anyway. Heptane is an aliphatic alkane solvant, not aromatic. So while heptane is a very hydrophobic solvant (solvatation by van der walls and hydrophilic interactions), it doee not make pi-stacking inter...

What was the slide of? Planar corrections are much more noticeable on planar subjects.
Typical histological slide (4-5 micron tissue thickness).

Re: The argument for plan.

Interesting. I've read somewhere that non-planar objective should be in focus in 60% of there field of view (FOV) diameter (that is, the center part of the FOV will be in focus), while plan-ojectives should have 100% of their FOV in full focus. The thing is, objectives have a field number (FN). High...

Re: Need Ziess 1.25x Auxiliary lens (part number 44 52 65)

To my understanding, this Auxiliary lens 1.25x (44 52 65) works like this (you rotate the condenser turret to get the auxiliary lens 1.25x in the light path and lower the swing-in/swing-out "front lens" when you need to use the Plan-NEOFLUAR 1.25x objective): Condenser light path.jpg I'm still looki...

Re: New microscope, choosing drives me crazy

For that budget, I would personally go for a used infinity corrected scope. For example, I bought a used Zeiss Axioskop 50 on eBay, and then bought Plan-APOCHROMAT and Plan-Neofluar ojectives. I'm curious to know, what scope brand do you have now ? I'm guessing you have a finite (aka fixed tube lenght) system. Most frequent is 160 mm tube lengths. The Zeiss ACHROPLAN 40x/0,65 NA infinity/0,17 and ACHROPLAN 20x/0,45 NA infinity/0,17mm (coverslip thickness) you have in the picture are for i...

Also, since resolution also depends on light wavelengs, you get better resolution for the same objective if you use blue light (shorter wavelenght) than if you use red light (higher wavelength).

I think it's the resolution that is better when the NA is higher.
There are formulas where you can see that resolution depends on NA: https://www.microscopyu.com/tutorials/i ... ion-airyna

I believe the auxiliary lense (44 52 65) fits in position "1" or "2" (which are the positions that can also accomodate phase ring diaphragms), but not in position "H/DIC" or "DIC" (which are meant to accomodate DIC prisms and also have integrated iris diaphragms). So the auxiliary lens (44 52 65) wo...
