Re: Are these finity APO objectives worth buying?

Then the questions are: 1. Does these APO require eyepieces to correct ca? 2. Leitz Pv APO is phase contract APO? I've never seen phase contrast APO. How does it perform? 3. What is the parfocal length of Leitz 170mm system? Is it also 45mm? 1. Yes, they require Leitz Periplan eyepieces for full co...

Re: How to use dye powder?

Methylene blue 1 % in water is a strong staining solution. Depending on the use case it can be used pure or diluted further. Eosin depends on the use case: 1 % in water if used as a counterstain to hematoxylin. 1 % in methanol or ethanol if used to stain mitochondria, plasma proteins and collagen. T...

My guess is, they would use very similar immersion oils like us.

As carbon based life forms we use materials containing every element in the periodic systems. Why should a silicon based life form behave different?

MitoTracker Green is reported to stain mitochondria. Your pictures match that.

And yes, acridine orange stains the nucleus.

There are oil immersion objectives from 10x up.

Examples I own and use:

10/0.45 oil
20/0.75 oil
40/1.3 oil

Hi Steve.

"Inko" was used by Zeiss for their early DIC condensers.
The constructions, that allows movement along one axis is another indicator.

I am not perfectly sure and did just a guess.

A trino for the SM-Pol never existed.

There are bino's but they lack the Bertrand lens and feature a lesser field of view than the mono. Hard to find anyway.

Be careful! Aluminium is suspected to cause Alzheimers's disease. That's why drinking canned beer causes strange behavior.

Re: how scared should I be of mercury lamps

I am still using mercury lamps and never had any problem with them. 1. UV light from a mercury lamp isn't more dangerous than UV light from a high-power LED. 2. A technically proper setup does not carry any UV risks. A full working days scattered UV light is much less than one gets from a 10 minutes...

The L40/0.60 is nothing you want on your DRMB. It is designed to look through the bottom of Petri dishes. The correction collar is from 0 - 2 mm. Imagine the fiddling to set it properly to 0.17 mm.

Re: Centering & adjusting the Leitz 100Z lamp?

A centering disc is easily made DIY. Just print it on semi-transparent paper. The exact dimensions are not critical at all.

The lamp condenser is clearly defective. It must be centered on axis to work properly.

It depends on the definition of "a". There are trillions of microbes in the world. At least one of them will eat at any given time. The answer to your question is "yes" so far. If the intention of your question is, if we always know about any of the trillions of microbes when they are eating, the an...

The quoted specs of your touptek camera say "Ultra-fine Color hardware Color Enginne ensuring high frame rates(Up to 15 frames for 20M Resolution);" 15 frames is a bit away from 1450 frames. Do the math how low you must go with resolution to achieve 1450 fps. And yes, I don't know what I am speaking...

You are confusing exposure time with frame rate.
No? The framerate means that roughly 1450 frames were captured every second, exposure time was about 60 microseconds by my recollection.
How could you expose 1450 times 60 milliseconds in one second?

Buy the tips for the maximum capacity, in your case 200 μl.

They look all the same on web pictures but are very different in real size. A 10 μl tip would not fit mechanically on your pipette.
