Re: Centering & adjusting the Leitz 100Z lamp?

Based on what I read of Leitz 600 and 400 series condensers, their intercept distance with the flip-up top is around 1.2mm, please see below. Doesn't this mean that my problems are likely caused by the condenser not reaching a high enough position, close enough to the slide? Please see the photo I ...

Re: Centering & adjusting the Leitz 100Z lamp?

A centering disc is easily made DIY. Just print it on semi-transparent paper. The exact dimensions are not critical at all.

The lamp condenser is clearly defective. It must be centered on axis to work properly.

Re: Do we always know when a microbe is eating?

It depends on the definition of "a". There are trillions of microbes in the world. At least one of them will eat at any given time. The answer to your question is "yes" so far. If the intention of your question is, if we always know about any of the trillions of microbes when they are eating, the an...

Re: Leitz Diavert, modernization (kind of)

The direct successor of the Diavert was the DL IM. First under the Leitz brand then Leica. Under Leica brand it made the change from finite to infinite optics. The Labovert was a very special animal standing separately. When using Olympus objective the fitting Olympus eye-pieces will give best resul...

Cropping does not increase frame rates. Cameras doing 1000 fps are sold at prices far beyond everything Touptek has on offer.

And yes, I don't know what I am speaking about.

Re: Various Spiral bacteria at high framerates(1400+)

The quoted specs of your touptek camera say "Ultra-fine Color hardware Color Enginne ensuring high frame rates(Up to 15 frames for 20M Resolution);" 15 frames is a bit away from 1450 frames. Do the math how low you must go with resolution to achieve 1450 fps. And yes, I don't know what I am speaking...

You are confusing exposure time with frame rate.
No? The framerate means that roughly 1450 frames were captured every second, exposure time was about 60 microseconds by my recollection.
How could you expose 1450 times 60 milliseconds in one second?

Buy the tips for the maximum capacity, in your case 200 μl.

They look all the same on web pictures but are very different in real size. A 10 μl tip would not fit mechanically on your pipette.

Metallurgical objectives work in transient light as fine as in reflected liegt. The question is: fits the objective the system. There are some M26 to RMS adapters on the market, it should not be a problem. My concern is more on the side of coverslip. Fitting into a system is more than just the thre...

Read sources carefully. Did you find any proof that the posted data of IMX 585 was at 400.000 ISO? What are the sensitivity and noise level of the D6 at 100 ISO?

Just do the test. Compare the cameras in real live not in sales literature.

That will depend on your objectives and dye. But a consumer DSLR is much more sensitive than 99 % of all dedicated microscope camer...

The distance from the upper plane of the condenser carrier to the condensers focal point is 38.2 mm. Later Zeiss microscopes used 40 mm instead. The condensers look the same and fit into the carrier but are not compatible.

Take some soft wood stick wrap medical cotton wool around it and soak it with some optical cleaner. Instead of the cleaner you may use a mixture of ethanol and ether for good results.

Simple arithmetics: 1.7/1.2=1.42. You will get a 42 % bigger F.O.V.
Other questions like vignetting depend on the entire equipment used.

Re: No power to light sources on Leica DMRE

The upper lamp housing looks very much like a HBO which needs a special power supply anyway.
On the picture the lower lamp's power line is not connected to the frame.

Is a bulb installed?
What resistance reads the multimeter on the pins of the lamp housing?
