Re: Like to buy a Ring adapter for AO stereo zoom

Scarodactyl, I had bought a ring light with a plastic 48mm ring, that kept popping off when I tried to screw it in place. But I hadn’t tried to wrestle it into place until I read your last post. I was worried about damaging my scope. But having heard that you used “a little effort” to attach what so...

That's a good start. How does the .5X barlow fit into the picture?
Oops. I posted that in the wrong thread. Nothing to do with the Barlow. My bad.

Re: Wanted: 0.5 Barlow lens for AO 569 stereoscope

I have gotten threads down to 0.5mm pitch to work with 3d printing (for a Nikon trinoc head). They jst have to be dialled in, and internal threads have to be oversized a bit since they print tight. Interesting. Do you print your own 3D stuff, or do you commission somebody else to do it? On another ...

Re: Like to buy a Ring adapter for AO stereo zoom

Scarodactyl, Thank you. I have a ring light I got from AmScope, so I only need the adaptor ring. Would you be willing to sell me that rusted out lens you mentioned? I do live in the US. (I wrote a PM about this, but it's been sitting for hours in my Outbox, so I don't know whether it'll send or not.)

Re: Like to buy a Ring adapter for AO stereo zoom

I actually have a roached 577s which I'd love to have out of my way. It is...extremely roached though, something corroded the hell out of it. I am too much of a newb to parse some of what you wrote. I don’t know what a 577s is or whether a corroded one would work for my purposes. But Apochronaut se...

Re: Like to buy a Ring adapter for AO stereo zoom

Thanks Apochronaut. The piece I found online is from a company. I don’t know whether we are supposed to refrain from mentioning companies or linking to product pages. If it’s allowed, I can share the name of the company and/or the link to the product page. I like your idea of making one myself from ...

Like to buy a Ring adapter for AO stereo zoom

I am about to get an American Optical stereo 0.7 to 3 zoom 569 microscope. I’d like to be able to attach a ring illuminator to it. So I need an adapter that would enable me to do this. I found an adapter online for $60, which seems a bit much for a small plastic ring. Does anybody happen to have one...

Illumination for AO stereo microscope

I haven’t gotten it in the mail yet, but I recently purchased an American Optical 569 Stereo star zoom microscope on a boom arm. I’ve been very excited about this. I just realized, though, that it doesn’t come with a light source! :( I will be using it to prep fossils I find. These typically span fr...

Hello from Iowa in the United States

I just became a member of this forum. I am an amateur fossil collector. I recently ordered a used American optical 569 stereo zoom microscope to help me with my fossil cleaning and preparation. I have not yet received it in the mail, and I’m sure I will have some questions about the proper way to us...
