Re: 30mm to 23mm eyepiece adapter

A better answer is that the reason for the large tube is to get a larger field. On a 23 the best you are going to do at 10x are the Chinese referenced above the 15x B&L or Reichert Grenades are also nice. but they are 15x.

Re: Used Zeiss Microscope

I know the Seller of the first scope and Jim is a great standup guy, and he is my go to Zeiss expert. I have one of his LEDs for my scope and it works great. He put that on what he is selling. He would probably work with you on the price if you write to him. Zeiss black brass is a lot cheaper than t...

My tried and true for stubborn camera lenses was always Butane, but it hasn't been as effective on Microscope optics.... but I would still give it a shot....doesn't look like coating loss which tends to look more like a rub

Re: MPLANFL, LMPLANFL vs NEOSPLAN, MSPLAN

I use infinity optics on my old Zeiss 160 all the time with great results both a zeiss infinity Neofluar, and the famous APO Nikon 20x. I use them for two reasons, one because I have them and two because they put up a lot better image than the Vintage Zeiss Neofluars that they the replaced. Also Vin...

Re: Pros and cons of Zeiss WL vs. Zeiss 18?

Hi Hobbiest, would be interested in seeing the blue WL........ Not sure if that was supposed to be a link.

I think its a push if you have an all metal gray 18, if its a part plastic 18, then... I would keep the WL, just personal preference for the feel.

Anyone reglue a DIC prism with canadian balsam?

I have a Zeiss DIC prism that is delaminated, and I am wondering if it would be possible to reglue it with Canadian balsam. Cost of the balsam and some cleanup solvent is about $30.... Are these Two wedges of glass or something else?

Ebay is your friend here for valuations...... That sounds like a great deal based on Ebay....

Alot of great 160mm non infinity stuff can be had for a great price right now, $2k would buy you a rig with all of the toys, DIC, POL, Phase, EPI etc......

about as cheap and easy as its gets. https://www.ebay.com/itm/283514624337 It shells out easily, and I use it with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OXSNO3K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use with my sub 1" zeiss lamps, works great. Picked these up relatively cheap with a comparator off of ebay. Thread Micrometers at 13mm. I see Thor sells an M12 x 0.5 to rms adapter. Would that work? Are they worth the bother?

Re: Whitest Paint in a LED Lamp House

I am kind of curious as to why people worry about heat disappation from leds? Up to say 10 watts if led it's not an issue. 100watt halogen equivalent. I am seeing that there are getting to be some crazy high powered leds on the market but for microscopy above 20 waats of led is not necessary unless ...

You can pick up a nice zeiss 100x oil with iris for around $30, and a Neofluar version for not much more.... as long as it RMS you can run anything on it, and I doubt the Amscope eyepieces have any correction in them as they buy from jobbers...

Re: Leica Reichert Polyvar 2 vs Polyvar SC

You can relamp with a 10 watt LED for around $60 at 5000k light, for the lamp, housing heatsink. You need to control it and that's about $50... I have a nice 3 watt rig going now, and will be doing a 5 and 10 shortly. The issue with that scope is the odd sized EPs, they cost a ton if you don't alrea...

We have three sliders one badly delaminated or otherwise failed. The one with the micrometer has a Zeiss part number but I can't seem to find the link to the Zeiss master parts list. Re: 1980's Nikon vs Olympus - Why did the BH2 win?

I'd say after spending a good part of the day working on a Zeiss Universal, that was as per Zeiss's ads the same scope in 1978, that it was in 1958, that it was simply a race to the bottom, as is with most things today. The Zeiss, I am working on has an all metal and lots of brass focusing assembly ...

Re: LW Scientific "Innovation" vs Amscope "T720" - Any Difference?

No Scar is of course correct its a well documented platform. My two comments on it are 1) Its a relatively expensive platform 2) Not much metal in one. I learned the hard way with my Eclipses, and then I got my hands on an old Zeiss, and well it was love. Building out a Zeiss WL or a Standard would ...

Re: Nikon Infinity 200 and Zeiss Infinity 160 Work Just fine on Vintage 160

The Axio is an infinity scope by design. When you use an Optvar with it the tube lens moves to the base of the Optvar from the base of the Head. When I take out the optvar, I am left with a scope that is a 160mm "finite" scope. It likes vintage Neofluars, etc. It also likes infinity objectives, from...

A zeiss Axio is a 160MM tube length nominally infinity corrected microscope. I have an Optvar with mine. The tube lens inserts into the Optvar in this configuration. When I remove the Tube lens it becomes a 160mm tube length microscope. No intermediate optics between the objective and Eyepiece. I sh...
