Re: where can I buy metric cheese head screws

I got info, from groups.io/g/Microscope/topic forum, that diversecomponents made cheese head screws. So I searched for diverscomponents and one hit was ebay UK where Diverse Components, under the name diversec, and GWR-fasteners sell brass and stainless steel metric and BA cheese head screws. Based ...

You might try this microscope site (groups.io/g/Microscope/topic). It has loads of info and members are very active. I asked a question about cheese head metric screws and within three days there were 42 replies.

objective comparison

Is one of these objectives considered optically better and why? Leitz PL 40/0.65 170/0.17 vs Leitz NPL 40/0.65 170/0.17.

Thanks,

Re: where can I buy metric cheese head screws

That kind of thing I have been getting from China on ebay lately. You can get small or large quantities for peanuts, if you don't mind and do you mind me asking what they are for and how many do you need of each? Back in 2015 when I converted my 170mm TL dialux to 160mm TL I designed and machined a...

Re: where can I buy metric cheese head screws

I got a recommendation to try https://www.accu.co.uk/13-cheese-head-screws and they will sell even one piece. I ordered everything needed and the total cost, including shipping was very reasonable.

Thanks for the reply. I'm on the east coast of the USA. I only need six of each size and they are for some mods I'm trying on a dialux.

where can I buy metric cheese head screws

Hi all, I need a small quantity of M3 and M4 metric cheese head screws and after searching the web for the last two days I found them but min. quantities are 50 or 100 pieces. I did find one distributor in the UK but would still have to buy 30 pieces. MRMETRIC sold small quantities but they closed i...

Leitz 170mm TL to 160mm TL microscope conversion

In 2015 I posted about my effort to convert my Dialux 170mm TL scope to 160mm TL. The reason was I bought the 170mm TL Dialux stand with no head, eyepieces or objectives and I had 160mm eyepieces and objectives. Below are details of the conversion using a 160mm TL head. Since the Leitz 160mm TL trin...

Re: Leitz trinoc head 42mm 512/738 question

Thanks so much for the photos. The knob, on top near the back that rotates the belt, works great on my head. What I would really like to see are the steps required to remove the interpupillary slides. I want to remove them so I can clean and relube them and the surfaces they slide against.

Re: Leitz APO 8mm Apochromat 24X/0.65 Microscope Objective Lens

It is marked A=0,65 24:1 and thought it might be a good addition to my circa 1975 Dialux that I converted to 160mm TL.

Leitz APO 8mm Apochromat 24X/0.65 Microscope Objective Lens

I'm guessing the description means it is a 24x mag objective but what does the 8mm refer to? And is it a 170mm or 160mm?

Thanks,

Re: Leitz head needing some work

The reasons for my original post was to make interpupillary adjustment work easier and to get better access to clean the front surface of the protective windows. The movement of the tubes is now fixed. So I only need to clean the windows. And If they are just plain uncoated glass, I could be more ag...

There is also the central front cover, between the tube flanges, held in place with with three small screws. Is that to be removed? And how do I remove the photo tube? Re: Leitz head needing some work

I meant to add the following to my previous post but hit submit to fast. The interpupillary adjustment is now easy and as smooth as butter. The process included positioning the head on its side and putting a few very small drops of Hoppes #9 gun oil at the edges of the interface of the dovetails. I ...

Re: Leitz head needing some work

Re: Leitz head needing some work

Thanks so much. Leitz head needing some work

The interpupillary distance adjustment on my 160mm TL trinocular head is sticky and requires more effort than it should. How can I get access to clean and lube the slides? And can the four screws securing each eyepiece tube be removed, without disengaging anything else, so I can get better access to...

I wasn't proposing that you scope is an SM. Based on photos in the Leitz document, in the link I sent, I thought your scope looked much more like a labolux or laborlux because of the angled front surface.

Great looking scope But why do you think it is a SM-M? There is a pdf on the web that has, on the last page, what looks like a Leitz document showing the black microscope series and years they were made or available. It seems all the scopes in the SM section show the front surface of the focusing bl...

Re: Leitz Achr 0.90

So I was looking at another spare Achr 0.90 flip-out lens and it has many black specks that are not on the front or back surfaces. Is this made up of two lens? Is there a way to disassemble this lens? I would gladly attempt to clean it because in its present condition it is worthless.
