Re: This forum is now more secure
Thank you Oliver for doing a great job with this forum. I never did let the "this site is not secure" notice discourage me from using this forum. I also enjoy your videos and I have saved many of them as MP4's in a notebook.

Re: Where can I get a ringing table from?
I think what I will do is make a ringing table. I'll get me a small lazy susan, go on Amazon and get a set of slide clips and make a table.

Re: Will these melt paraffin wax?
If I was doing this on a large scale, I would invest in a Lee Melting Pot with a bottom pour that's used for melting lead for molding bullets and dedicate it to melting paraffin wax for embedding specimens for my microtome.

If the optics are the same, then I will buy the silver ones. If the microscope I'm going to put it on already has black objectives, then I'll buy the black ones.

Re: Will these melt paraffin wax?
I haven't used one like it, but a coffee warmer will melt paraffin so I imagine this would as well. The problem will be in controlling the temp. I'll put some in one of those paper cups that you use with the wax and see if it melts. If it does, I'll try pouring it into the specimen holder and micro...

Do these electric wax warmers get hot enough to melt paraffin wax for specimens for use with microtomes?

Re: First images with new camera
I ordered a set of masks from ebay, and it's on the way. I'll use them with my Omano OM 159. I also have a couple of Amscopes, Omax, Celestron, and a couple of Swifts. One of the Swift is an older one, and that's the one that got me started. I bought it used back in the middle 1980's from a local mi...

Thank you for the link. I'll have to measure my filters so I can get the proper darkfield masks.
As far as the Plans go, I'll order them like you did, one or two at a time.

Re: First images with new camera
From reading your comment, I'm now thinking about getting a set of 4 Plans and the 20x and 60x Plans. I have several microscopes I can use them on. If I like them, maybe I'll get a second set. What I'm trying to find is the darkfield mask.

I make a lot of slides and find it easiest to apply a temporary label to each, using UHU water soluble glue, and then print a whole bunch of labels using MS Word, I can get 7, 1" wide columns on a sheet. Print with Arial font @ 7pt. At last 12 labels/column. Each slide has a unique informative iden...
