Unknown Annelid
https://imgur.com/Jr8we28 https://imgur.com/4ELBigf https://youtu.be/oREyCiYs96s Hi, I found this in a freshwater pond, it must be some kind of annelid. I'm not very knowledgeable about these types of organisms - could somebody please help me identify this? It is about 1.5 - 2cm in length. Thanks, ...

Closterium
Here is a very pretty Closterium I found in a sample from a local pond. Desmids are some of my favourite things to look at because of their beautiful symmetry
I think it might be Closterium Parvulum

Re: Heliozoan Amoeba
Bruce, thank you! I wasn't too sure about my ID of it, it definitely is an Actinophrys after looking it up
Edit: Sorry, I meant to write Actinohphryid and made a typo (on my keyboard s and d are directly next to one another)

Leaf Skeleton
Yesterday I found a 22mm long leaf skeleton, which fit nearly perfectly under a coverslip. So, I put in a darkfield filter and took a bunch of photos (98 to be exact) at 40x magnification. I tried to automatically Photo-merge using photoshop, but It didn't work properly - only 6 or so images actuall...

Re: Diverse Algae Specimens
Today I did some more 'research' about Staurastrum, and I think that the star is either Staurastrum Asteroideum or Staurastrum Incisum. Also I appreciate all the kind feedback

5-Armed Staurastrum ID Help?
Hello all, I collected some water from a stagnant pond and came across this Staurastrum. https://imgur.com/Pz5xqHn I initially thought it could be Staurastrum Arachne, but after a bit more time searching I think I've narrowed it down to either Staurastrum Incisum or Staurastrum Asteroideum. If anybo...

Diverse Algae Specimens
I went for a walk to a pond today, and brought a couple of jars along with me. After filling up the jars from various parts of the pond, I headed home to look at some of the water under the microscope. To my surprise, in the very first drop of water I placed on the slide I found many beautiful and d...

Re: Red spotted worm
Yes that's of the genus Aeolosoma. I used to have a whole jar full of them from a pot of rainwater outside.

Bacteria Identification
https://imgur.com/579MOk2 I collected some water from inside a bromeliad flower and came across this. At 400x magnification they look like little chains of beads. I feel like they're Streptococcus bacteria but I know very little about bacteria so am unsure. Can anyone help to identify which type th...
