Re: This will be fun, or not

Trying to figure out the wings.

The upper wing is intact, and the lower wing is torn? Does that make sense?

Re: This will be fun, or not

Yeah, definitely a labour of love. Here's what it looks like right now...certainly not magic. This is giving me the chance to look at the actual parts of a DM (on a slide, so, not so much in the way of internal parts), so I'm thankful to find anatomy, even if it's a lot of work for nothing, photogra...

Re: This will be fun, or not

I'm at 3135 images, not exactly going as planned, but it's going well.

Trying to separate by depth has been a disaster, so now I'm separating by body part; it's going well, but the wings will be a big problem.

Re: This will be fun, or not

Thanks guys. Computer has basically stalled to a halt on the 5th layer, which is to say, the 5th focus point (each focus point, again, is about 30 images). It's currently 133 layers, 9.5Gb file, and to be honest, I'm surprised, because I've made files much larger than this. So I think the best thing...

I also yesterday tried to get every part of just the head in focus, i.e. no stitching, just focus. It's 110 layers deep. Crazy.

Re: This will be fun, or not

Shawn, would it be possible reduce the size of the individual panels significantly (so the final resolution of the overall composite has the requisite resolution for printing at the size you require)? Remember that even a small reduction in image size results in a larger reduction in file size (sin...

Re: This will be fun, or not

Thanks Rod. I'm 3 layers in, and already the computer is farting. I'll have to move this file onto an SSD in a USB3 port, and possibly even move the entire project onto a different computer.

This will be fun, or not

I spent a few days photographing my favourite subject (Drosophila melanogaster, of course). I shot, apparently, 1582 pics, and I still have the specimen loaded in the scope with no changed conditions if I need to revisit/add photos. With so many shots, I condensed all images into 5. In other words, ...

Re: Bambam

Hey Dale, he's an orange tabby. All of his colour is orange, but mostly creamy orange with darker orange stripes. I've heard that such cats can only be male, and that they are always a handful, both in terms of behaviour and health. Pebbles and Bambam are both indoor cats, never been outside since I...

Re: Bambam

Thanks ZZ. I have been giving him psycillium husk for 3 days, wet food with water and per your advice last night, I gave him an emima. I just got home from work and there was still no movement in the litter box. But he was in good spirits, purring and playful. I played with him for some time and kep...

Bambam

Hey guys, I'm not religious, nor do I believe in prayers, or miracles for that matter. Bambam has been sick for several days, not pooping at all. I've tried lots of liquids, psycillium husk, fish oil, everything. Was basically told he needs to come in for surgery, which I can't afford. Bambam and hi...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this is a video of pus that I removed from, well, yeah, that area. Not sure what I'm looking at, but some of it is still alive on the slide. I think it started as a blackhead. More like a pimple, I think? I call it "George", my extra head. 100x/oil https://www....

Probably won't be posting much until I get a good camera-to-scope adapter (for my Sony A7II) and some new things to photograph. I am rehashing old prepared slides with my crappy Omax camera...

Hey, what are you having for Christmas dinner?

Well, I love meat, so I'm making a Turducken. You?

Well, I'm Canadian, so I'm gonna wrap some poutine with backbacon but that's gonna be very greasy so I'll have to squeeze out the grease with my touque, eh?

Thank guys:) Charlie, unless you can say "eh", "poutine", "backbacon" and "touque" in the same sentence, you're not speaking Canadian...eh? LOL Sorry, as often happens I didn't quite state what I meant. It was straight LF, but then I played with the images in Photoshop. To be honest, I find myself g...

Re: Culturing a food chain

Don't worry the water will be fine, it's been going for a few weeks and the system should cope with it, by far the best dry feed for the shrimps is spirulina you will probably have to get some mail order. If you are going to buy a crab or a shrimp then I would go for a shrimp I think they are easie...

Re: Culturing a food chain

Well now that was a pain in the butt lol...half an hour of removing yolk. Im going to go to Big Als tomorrow and get a crab or a shrimp, i.e. something to prove to me that my water is OK. Draining the yolk most certainly drained any shrimp in the water, but that is OK since they were clearly not eat...

Re: Culturing a food chain

Hi Dave Removing the yolk as we speak. How do I liquidize it going forward? The green, I think, was frozen micro algae, i.e. dead. Hi the big tank looks good it needs a bit more sand I think the movement of sand should be under the surface of the sand so you can't see it on the surface, in the littl...
