Re: measurements of Reichert Zetopan deviating prism lever
I asked my friend with a machine shop if we could make them but he did not have die to make this thread and said, even if he did, it is very tricky to make such a small thread. So I just bought these on ebay instead. The hex-head has a knurling so it is convenient to hold. The biggest challenge when...

Re: What to do with Nikon Fluor 10x in poor condition?
Good cleaning job. Those scratches won't have a big effect on image quality. You need to scratch a front lens like that quite badly before the image quality start to deteriorate significantly. But the grime that was there before certainly would have an impact. So if the image quality didn't improve...

Re: Size of square head on Reichert Zetopan phase carousel adjustment screws
Do you know what type of adjustment the screws do when turning them for the wollaston prisms holder in the IK condenser? Do they only center the prism or also rotate it? cesarius, I have not explored the IK condenser yet, other than verifying that the watch key fits, so I am not sure, sorry. Now th...

Size of square head on Reichert Zetopan phase carousel adjustment screws
I have phase contrast and an IK contrast condenser carousel for a Reichert Zetopan. For the phase rings (and correspondingly on the IK condenser) there are tiny square headed screws to adjust the centring. For the information of the community the square is 1.12mm square and it can be manipulated wit...

Re: How to diassamble Wild M20 binocular head?
Thanks Viktor, I got the cloudiness cleaned up. Oddly it seemed as if a large part of the cloudiness was a residue on the exterior non-transmitting side of the prism, the one that reflects the image internally. I could not get all the residue off even with a water/IPA/Acetic Acid/detergent solution ...

Re: How to diassamble Wild M20 binocular head?
Thank you Viktor. When you got inside the binocular head, what did you use to clean the fog? Just a normal water soluble lens leaner and canned air; or did you use a chemical solvent?

How to diassamble Wild M20 binocular head?
I have a Wild M20 with a binocular tube that I am cleaning. There is a cloudiness inside the binocular tube head's left optics. I would like to open the head on the tube side. I have removed the four small black screws on the metal piece connected to the non-focusing eyepiece tube in these two pictu...

Q-Tips OK for microscope optics cleaning?
When I bought my Reichert Zetopan, it came with "The Unique Microscope Cleaning Kit" from Scogil Scientific Inc. of Raleigh North Carolina. It has "optics cleaning swabs" which I have been using to clean the optical pathway of my microscope with Foxwest Optical Lens Cleaner Cat. No 1100. I have used...

Re: Advice on cleaning microscope optics
Isopropyl is good but is not particularly good as a solvent for fats or oils, which form a good portion of residues on older optics. It tends to leave a film. That can be removed with a mixture of IPA, H2O Acetic acid and dish detergent, followed by H2O and IPA as rinse solvents. The H2O, IPA, CH3C...

Advice on cleaning microscope optics
I have a Reichert Zetopan and I recently spent some time cleaning its optical pathway. Things went pretty well overall but I have some questions. The top surface of the top lens of my BPK 10X ocular has a spot that did not wipe away, see picture. I am using Foxwest Optical Lens Cleaner Cat. No 1100 ...
