Re: 3D Vision on Compound Microscopes with Shinya Inoue's Forgotten Mod

Polish company PZO made same device for stereo phase contrast named KS. Dual rotated polarizing filters were inserted into the condenser (on phase ring) and in eyepieces tubes. Do not spoil the image of the objective by sticking the film on the back, insert them into the filter holder in condenser.

Re: 720p video - good enough for microscopy?

For microscopy is much more suitable mirrorless camras. For example, very cheap for aftermarket Sony NEX series of cameras. Mirrorless is very light, have semielectronic shutter (prevents shaking), and swiwel screen. I aslo own NEX F-3. It's provides 1080p video, but i think that this is not enough,...

Re: Some wood in polarization

Oh, for slit condenser in Jenaval, i wrote it only for mine configuration, not for PZO prizm. With PZO head, position of knobs is the same as native pzo microscope. You need table and condenser holder from Carl Zeiss Ergaval or another scope, with same table holder doveteil like Zeiss Jenaval, but s...

Yes, compensator condenser KPI2 produses more quality image, but slit from razor is good also :)

Forum http://www.forum.shvedun.ru/viewforum.php?f=6 And where are you from? I have a slit condenser PZO, but it impossible to install on Jenaval too. It has kbobs in X plate (from let to right), but for prism in Jenaval is need knobs (and slit) from back to front position, for thit is no place under...

Re: Some wood in polarization

MPI5 (head name) can be installed on photo port of Jenaval. But DIC effect will only be in the center of field, 10-15 mm in term of field of view.

Re: Some wood in polarization

Your second setup is right. But an extend adapter is required between the camera and the mpi5. Near 120 mm to the sensor of camera. Сonsider the flange distance (if i used the english term correctly).

Re: Some wood in polarization

If photo with LUMAM is yours, then you need to remove photo adapter and setup will start to work! Only need to little tube without optics above MPI5 to install camera. And, maybe, extension tube under the MPI5 for compensate differences in heigh from PZO and Lomo turret. 47 mm PZO and 41,5 mm LOMO f...

Re: Some wood in polarization

You have Amplival or Jenaval? Impossible to instal MPI5(DIC PZO head) to Jenaval. For Amplival it should be possible. On your foto (from russian forum?) MPI5 intalled on luminescence microscope LUMAM with photoadapter (wich is not needed). Main requirement by DIC PZO to work - is tube length 160 mm ...

Re: Some wood in polarization

Better solution for DIC PZO - is to buy PZO Biolar scope. Install this unit on Jenaval is impossible. Only dissasemble the head and pull out the DIC prism, and install it into the Jenaval (how did i do with Metaval prism), maybe, will give the result. I tried to do this, but did not understand how t...

Re: Some wood in polarization

About DIC. If i wrote DIC PZO - it is real DIC PZO on Polish microscope Biolar, no Zeiss. When i wrote DIC prism Jenaval - it's only one prizm from Zeiss Metaval, wich i installed in DIY holder (3d printing) in Jenaval under the binocular, and slit slide in condenser.

Re: Some wood in polarization

I use a chineese polar filters for action camera from aliexpress :) 25 mm diameter for analyzer in zeiss slider.
And photograpic filter 58 mm for light source. Foil is bad because it stick dust.

Thank you very much for the information. I checked out your Flickr album, looks like you have lots of fun taking pictures of tiny things!
Yes, microphoto is my little hobby.
On youtube i have a some video too, but nothing outstanding :)

Re: Some wood in polarization

This photos was taken with Carl Zeiss Jena Jenaval,
crossed polarize filters

1 - slice of Pine wood, objective GF Planachromat 12.5x0.25
2 - Linden wood, same objective
3 - Maple wood, objective GF Planachromat 25x0.50

All - is old soviet slides for students.

Hello from Ukraine

I'm microscope amator from Ukraine. Read this forum a few years. And now decided to write. Excuse me for my english, i know language a little :) I have been interested in microscopy from childhood, but I never became a biologist, although I wanted to be. I have several scopes from LOMO to Carl Zeiss...

Re: DIC Question

Yes, slit method does not full fill a aperture of objective and resolution is decrease. But not so hard. And color is fine. I have a PZO DIC system also, but its condenser not compatible with Zeiss. I made slider in condenser from common microscope slide and blades of old safe razor. Video from Zeis...

Re: DIC Question

Hello I am writing here for the first time, although I have been reading for a long time. I am also a amateur microscopist, from Ukraine (so forgive me for my english). You don't need a fully symmetric DIC system, one prism is enough. In condenser you need to insert a SLIT diaphragm in aperture plat...
