Hi there ! i really like the amscope software (live focus stacking and stitching). it recognize my hayear camera, but i switched to a hdmi setup with a cheap hdmi->usb adapter which works with other softwares. Re: Full servicing of a NACHET NS400

Not much update since then. (except that i bought a 3rd microscope : a very old Zeiss Epignost). i wasn't able to find an acceptable alternative for a darkfield filter., it really need to be under the microscope between the 2 diaphragm. i need to replace the partially damaged polar filter. my home m...

Re: Want to learn more about eyepiece

a small update about the "low quality" of the Leitz.

When i cleaned up the Leitz, i forgot to clean one of the internal lens of the microscope.

Yes, it's supposed to be fully transparent :

Re: Zeiss L + Epignost, year 1920

There are 2 different serial number.
- one on the stage, hand written, you have to disassemble it
- one on the turret next to the brand

I almost fully disassembled it to repair the micrometer

Re: Zeiss L + Epignost, year 1920

Congratulations, a very nice and fairly rare Instrument! It looks nearly like the much much more common LG but has the research instument type detatchable stage. It looks as if you also have the epi attatchment, this would be valuable as it is the main advantage over the LG and justifies to claim m...

Zeiss L + Epignost, year 1920

I just received it. According to the serial number, it's from 1920. According to the manual, it's a series L. There is a "Sorice" stamp on the manual All oil/grease are 100% frozen/stuck. Some assembly required. But as long as the epignost isn't broken I'm happy :) https://i.imgur.com/KxeHUPV.jpg ht...

The person that took the picture don't know either. All I can imagine is some kind of epi illumination stuff.

Is that Nachet eyepiece 23mm?

I have a number of old Leitz and Zeiss eyepieces and the fov is pretty bad. Newer Leitz and Zeiss ones are greatly improved.
Yes, they're both the same tube diameter.

Re: Want to learn more about eyepiece

Your enthusiasm for the Nachet eyepieces is mostly due to the fact that they provide a wider field of view Ho yes. probably. certainly. They also are required to pick the image up 18mm down the tube, which is a focal distance unique to leitz. I don't understand :( Other than the FOV, I enjoy the hi...

Want to learn more about eyepiece

Friendly greetings ! So now I have 2 microscopes (+ a cheap binocular) : - Leitz Dialux from 1953 - Nachet NS400 from 80~90's something (not really sure) I got both for fairly cheap but dirty/damaged/incomplete. Anyway, with your help + Facebook + Discord + google. They're both useable and clean eno...

Re: Leitz 100x oil immersion objective

I cleaned almost everything except the objective. Now most of the dirt I can see when observing with the 100x (dry, I need to buy oil) come from the eyepiece. I switched the Leitz eyepiece with a more modern Nachet eyepiece : the 100x appears to be useable without additional cleaning. (and I need to...

Re: Leitz 100x oil immersion objective

When I use the 100x objective as is, it's extremely dirty. But it may come from this other part. this dirt doesn't obstruct the view with the 10x objective, but perhaps it become a real problem with the 100x : https://i.imgur.com/6yxkuKP.jpg Any thought on dissolving the oil without dissolving the g...

Re: Leitz dialux illuminator mirror

Thank you. I'll give a try to finding a small (square?) mirror that fit the need and 3D print a new mount. The huge amount of dust clearly affected the luminosity. The "whatever it is" with the mirror doesn't seems to affect the quality that much (at least compared to other problem I have). Perhaps ...
