Re: Stereo Microscope accompanying a handheld "microscope"

1. A trinocular is a binocular with a third tube for the camera. You should shop online at AmScope, New York Microscope, etc., and watch Oliver Kim's Microbe Hunter videos on YouTube to fill in your knowledge base. 2. Generally, the handheld "security camera" type microscope you have already gives y...

I enjoy the site, of course, but I always thought it odd that there is no opportunity for giving feedback or knowing when you receive it, whether a reply or a like.

Re: I would like some prepared slides.

I have some slides from Triarch , both from the past and some recent ones of arthropods which are of good quality if perhaps a bit thick (the arthropods). Unless you're looking for specific examples it's probably cheaper to get a collection off ebay. Thanks for the recommendation to Triarch. I went...

Re: I would like some prepared slides.

Yes, thanks, especially to Pete M. I bought several different sets of slides from AmScope and I was dismayed at the mounting. I understood immediately the what and why. As PeteM said, these are mass-produced on the cheap with little regard for quality control. So, I went shopping at the scientific s...

New AmScope B270 and Present Set-up

This past August, I bought an AmScope 270B and several sets of prepared slides. New Amscope B 270 - 1b.jpeg Previously, in March, I bought two student monoculars through Goodwill Dot Com. First Loaner Out the Door

Yesterday, my barber said that his 9-year old daughter is interested in science and wants a telescope for her 10th birthday. Today, I brought him an AmScope and a box of prepared slides to take to her for week to see how she does with it. AmScope One (2) (s).jpeg A microscope is a lot easier to use....

My interest in microscopes goes back to my childhood. ... It came equipped with a video camera adapter. When I removed it, the very rare NFK 1.67 photo eyepiece was inside! The one on the right is an M500. The objective missing is 100x oil. They are readily available. Thanks. $40.99 from AmScope. I was not concerned, really. Having played with these, I found that the two 4/0 .10 160/017 are not interchangible. I put the one from the M148 in the M500 and the stage woul...

Re: Astronomer Considering Microscopy

All new microscopes priced under about $4,000.00 irregardless of what badge is on them are made in either China, India or Thailand. The Zeiss Primostar is not really a Zeiss microscope. It's just one that they have selected out of a Chinese factory that they feel comfortable putting their name on. ...

You might be wanting a stereo microscope to start with. 30 to 60X is the common high magnification for a stereo, so you can see small arthropods like dust mites well with one. The preparation of samples and adjustment of lighting is more straightforward, plus you get a 3-D image. You can alwsys mov...
