Re: Unidentified structures in lichen. A diatom?
Hello and thank you all for answering. My 7-year-old daughter pinched the sample with her own fingers to later make a video for our microscopy channel. She loves to look through the eyepieces and have her family and friends listen to her on YouTube. I know that in the sample I have to look for hypha...

Unidentified structures in lichen. A diatom?
Hello I rencently observed a lichen sample from an oak tree. I could see the hyphae and the single-celled algae. Among the debries I found some structures I could not identify. Anyone can help me? Are they diatoms? They are the brown structures. Thank you Magnification: 720 x https://1drv.ms/i/s!An2...

Ulva intestinalis with diatoms on the surface
Hello. I recently examined a piece of the Ulva intestinalis algae under a microscope with many diatoms on the surface. Among the algae a rotifer is located. Artemia salina. Recorded with a mobile phone attached to an eyepiece
Hello. I would like to share this video with all of you because I find it interesting to show certain aspects of this little animals. You can see the circulation of hemolymph, hemocytes and other things that would go unnoticed without the aid of a microscope. Forgive the quality. My microscope is so...

Re: Endoplasmic reticulum visible with phase contrast?
I had never heard of microplicae before, but after surfing the internet I agree with you. The structure is similar to that of the inner membrane of the mitochondria, with different functions depending on the type of cell where they are found

Re: Endoplasmic reticulum visible with phase contrast?
I think reticulum only can be seen under electron microscope. The areas where some strangers lines appear seems to be folded parts of the own cell. The part of the cell without foldings has not these structures. ER only is 7 nm width

Avocado seed endosperm
Today I have found some avocado seeds under a avocado tree and I collected them. I made some cuts with a hand microtome and a razor blade. After it I stained the cuts with povidone iodine (I have not a laboratory in my house) mixed with water. After 5 minutes the cuts became blackish and them I coul...

PZO Warszawa binocular
This is my amazing microscope  It is a bit old (1977), but Polish engineers worked well. I bought It for 60 € (second hand). The eyepieces are x12 and the objetives are x5, X10, x40 and x100 (oil). I had to adjust some things but It works fine. In some years I will buy another trinocular to be...
