I saw this in a sample from my local pond. Its something I’ve not seen before. Can anyone identify it. Looks a mean little critter.

What are the best coverslips to buy for most mid priced microscopes or does this not matter. Are they a standardised size. I’m new to the hobby.

When setting up a slide with the 4 x objective the background always looks a bit frosty even when the contents are in focus. Can this be improved in any way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have room for 4 objectives on my microscope. I’ve decided I do not want to use the 100 for oil. I therefore have 4-10-20-40 and 60 objectives. Which would be the best order to place them. I’m new to this hobby.

I used the above adapter for my I phone 5s. It was on the lowest magnification 4x objective and 10x wide angle eyepiece. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I need to focus better once it’s in place. I’m not big on photography as you can see. I don’t own a digital camera.

Can you use spectacle wipes to clean your slides. How do you clean yours. Can you reuse them doing this.

Could you tell me how you get the coloured backgrounds. I’m new to this and just bought a new microscope.

Now I’ve worked out how to add a picture here it is. Brunel Westbury SP40.

I use this on my telescope. I presume it will also work on a microscope. I’ll give it a try.
