Re: Nikon E Plan series Objectives
So what you are basically saying here is that Plans are more suited for static flat objects where full even/flat detail is needed like a butterfly wing, to provide even detail across the entire plane. And since pond critters thend to move and we observe one at a time while moving in x/y/z , plan cor...

Re: Where to find these instant LED replacements?
Hope this helps, I found the exact lighting system and lenses used in the Nikon E200LED MV R scope. I'll disassemble the led mount to get to the actual led and see. Can I swap that 3W led for a 5w in the same form factor? Also look at the driver board there are two led outputs the scope led goes int...

Re: dIY DIC
I found these LOMO? inverted microscope DIC prisms, the upoer bigger one has a circular glass and a secondary slit with another glass behind it. The lower has a clear squarish prism glued at the edges. Can I do a anything with these to obtain some form of DIC? 3199da2412fd452d98dbe5e8ed1b10b3 9a0a9d...

Re: First attempt with DIY polarization - Help needed
Wow amazing! If I want to do this to my newly acquired Eclipse E200 MV LED MV R, with best possible option of polarizers where do I buy them and what exactly do I need? On another note, at my local Science and Surplus store I saw set of LOMO glass polarizers and set of LOMO DIC Prisms. $19 each for ...

Re: Astronomer Considering Microscopy
I said, that it is a microscope " that Zeiss feels comfortable putting their name on" , and "that it is about twice the price of the same microscope without the Zeiss name on it". When one becomes savvy to how microscope technology has developed and how the edges blur at the entry level, it is easy...

Nikon Eclipse E200 Service Repair Manual
Does anyone have the Nikon Eclipse E200 service manual?
Or if not at least a working E200 to look under the stage and tell me if there is a set screw that sets tensions for the vertical focus gearing.
Mine skips but I suspect a missing set-screw.
Thank you!

Re: Restoring an Olympus IMT-2
Can someone tell me, does any Philips or similar 12v 50w halogen work in this Olympus IMT-2? Are those "projection" halogens I see on ebay ok to buy. Some sellers on Amazon wsnt $30 for one which I'm not even sure what brand etc. Lastly can a "frosted" halogen be good to use, not as main but to play...

Re: Restoring an Olympus IMT-2
Hah, I did let it go with no attempts. Instead I moved to the focusing system, complete teardown, feozen micro bearings(had to repack them) etc. Even though it worked I was blown away on how much stuck dirt/grit is on the entire thing. When I'm done, it will focus smooth as new off factory asembly l...

Re: Restoring an Olympus IMT-2
I am guessing that the dichroic mirrors are shown in photo 4EE5A449-EA12-41C4-BA52-3BE949AABE9F ? Anyway, AFAIK dichroic mirrors (DM) are only interesting for fluorescence. They can be used of course for other modalities, if you accept that the colors of the image will not be realistic; because the...

Re: Restoring an Olympus IMT-2
Nice work! Totally opposite to the way I do these things; I fix/clean to the point I can see something. then stop. Thank you! LoL, I clean things to the point where it looks factory assembly clean and I cannot see any specs or fogging on anything. Except where I cannot reach and even there I make a...

Re: Identify blown capacitor in halogen power supply
If over 40 years old, it is advisable to change all capacitors in the circuitry, whether ceramic or electrolytic. Capacitors just give up the ghost over time, even if they are not being energized. Yes, I highly recommend this, I just replaced all electrolytic caps on my IMT-2 and they were all dry.

Re: Nikon gene sequencer objectives
Maybe. You might be able to get the stage low enough to focus it, though there's a good chance it won't. The image is superb if you can get the right cover glass thickness. You are right, that objective is huge... Definitely not going to fit. Do you know if this objective(Nikon Plan Fluor 20x/0.50 ...

Hello lads,
Regarding these Nikon OEM/sequencer objectives, should I buy one for my Motic B1 scope?
If yes which one 0500-0087 or 1501-9398 ?
Thank you!
