Re: Wandering around a drop of fresh water with oil immersion
Here are some of the critters in my 3 week old pond sample. I've kept the sample under a plant light 16 hours a day, and topped it off with bottled water when necessary. It's fun killing time looking through this sample a drop at a time. Shot with a 40x oil immersion objective using phase contrast....

OK , Thanks I will bear that in mind. I am new to this so any comments like this are helpful..apochronaut wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 8:58 pmThe video camera still has a shutter. Not the same type as a still frame camera but more of a spinning disc controlling frame speed. It could be affected by vibration and certainly by aperture.

Hello all. So, as I mentioned in the the stacking thread, imageJ is free and m...

Re: first attempt at imaging
I agree that there is something adding a bit of fuzz, although they are quite good for a modest set up. Better than I have ever done without fussing with the illumination forever. Down in the bottom of the last image, a wolf spider I guess, there is a half moon shaped area of lighter colour than th...

Re: first attempt at imaging
Good colours. To me there is an effect that looks like motion blue. Sometimes shutter shock causes it, Can't think of anything in the setup that would give vibration other than manual shutter release. Use a timer or remote to sharpen up? There is no shutter on this camera just a 5mp c-mos sensor. I...

Hi Don
are you referring to the Rotifer?..If so I used swiftview which came with the camera as a package with the Swift 380B Microscope I bought. The blue "stain" effect was acetate overhead projector film with some of my wife's blue nail varnish painted on it to make a filter.
