Re: Help: does Koehler illumination requires a field lens in microscope?

Hi again: The Optiphot and Labophot (Both Nikon) have a diffuser after the lamphouse condenser (the big curvture lense close to the bulb; in the optiphot that diffuser is removeable); I understand that as Apochronaut said, it is for get more uniform illumination. In my experience, in the optiphot, w...

Re: Help: does Koehler illumination requires a field lens in microscope?

optiphot optical trail.pdf Hi: I Think that no, not all Koeler microscopes have that lense, each model have different optical trail; but for real Köler ilumination, it mustn´t be a difuser in the optical trail, you must focus the ligth source (bulb filament, discharge tube of a flash, led array...)...

Re: Crystals of amino acids, caffeine and THC

hi: As retarder, for increase the rainbow effect in crystals microphotos, you can use different materials: mica sheets, plastic films (the celophan used as envelope of different products), or proper optical retarders (better 1 wave or lambda plates; the good ones are very expensive, hundreds of euro...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Osteoport: Until now I was working mainly in Pluta ICM, testing different configurations. When I tried the variable contrast that I made, I see that I have to adjust its desing to the NA of the objective (and the condenser optical desing too); so, I toke the measures that I wrote earlier for get ...

Yes, I think, as the front focal plane of the condenser and the back focal plane of the objective are conjugates, you can change them...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Osteoport: The second picture that you have posted is the arrange for Pluta Interference Contrast Microscopy; inside the slot there is an analyzer oriented east-west (45º from the prism interference fringe position). Is must be combined with a slit in the FFP of the condenser oriented in the same...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi again: I have made more test. I have combined the BD plan epi-objectives with the BD EPI-DIC nosepiece turret, the EPI-Illuminator as spacer (And analyzer) and the slit condenser in a diascopic work; the goal was to have the slit scheme with a objective and objective prism that where made by Niko...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Thanks very much Apochronut: Despite the final result of my work I would like to understand why and how work something, and your informaion will aid me a lot. I´m sure that in that manual you have is a lot of information to compare with the results that I get. Thinking this last day in the words fro...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Viktor: Thanks for your links and share your nice information. I have seen any of your works in DIC too. I have read some of them, not all; some needs time for study. Some of them are related to the requirements to obtain a match between condenser prism, condenser optics, objective and objective ...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Sure Squinsalot.: Until now I have only test with the cf40X 160mm 0,65NA nikon objective, and BD 40 epi prism, with the 20X PZO condenser prism. I hope next weekend I can try with the cf 20X What are you using in the nosepiece place?, what kind of prisma? I use the BD epi DIC optipht Nikon nosepi...

Re: optiphot-1: fine focus knob trouble

Must be inside, the knobs are hollow inside; look inside trougth the hole with a ligth, be sure the screw is out or loosened; the knobs must go out; see these pics in "microscop assembly">>"Labophot">> "Fine focus mechanism":

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi folks again: Several issues for talk about. First, I have the raw files of the pics, so, with time I will upload all the coloured images of them; they are mainly monochromatic grey images, but in some cases, there are some artifacts in small tiny points; If you change the position of the slit or ...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Yes, Zzffnn; I bougth the objective (CF plan 100X 1,25) weeks ago, and it´s broken; the front element is loose from the barel. You can see it only with a binocular loupe. I have used several times inmersion oil objectves ( 40X, 60X, 100X). No, the movement isn´t related with the spring; it´s in the ...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

I think that the gradient could be smoothed, but, at least with this optics and this prisms the results are similar than oblique The results depend on greatly on the size and position of the slit. And you can choose colour DIC too with the position of slit. Later, oil inmersion. Sorry Zzffnn, I have...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Zzffnn: Thanks for your contribution. I think that the ideas from Apochronaut about this issue give us clarity about what can be achieved if the things are well done; I think that the main isse with the gradient is adjust the slit, and other improvements will get with the proper optics (strain fr...

Re: Working in an "universal condenser" for Nikon Optiphot

Hi Apochronaut: I´s good to know what kind of results can be achieved with Pluta´s slit DIC system. I haven´t got good references of it. If you say that the results can be good, it must be possible to achieve them. If you have more information about this issue, I will be very glad If yuo can share i...
