That would be Phase. For best results you will need to align the condenser annulus with the objecive ring using a Phase telescope.

Differential Interference Contrast
. It has occurred to me that while many members have experience in illumination techniques such as Darkfield and Rheinberg, and some have experience in Phase (Phase Contrast) and COL (Circular Oblique Lighting), there are less who have experience in DIC (Differential Interference Contrast) I therefo...

Re: Nikon Infinity 200 and Zeiss Infinity 160 Work Just fine on Vintage 160
The Axio is an infinity scope by design. When you use an Optvar with it the tube lens moves to the base of the Optvar from the base of the Head. When I take out the optvar, I am left with a scope that is a 160mm "finite" scope. It likes vintage Neofluars, etc. It also likes infinity objectives, fro...

Re: What is the illumination technique Microbehunter used in his last video?
Phase contrast is a powerful technique in the right hands. I wonder if part of the popularity of DIC is just that expensive equipment can be substituted for some of the artistry required to sap the most out of phase. I don't think DIC is popular in the sense that it is common. I do think that to ge...

Re: Pocket RMS microscope with condenser, darkfield, schlieren and 3D printable
. Perhaps a restatement of the limitations that a FMH (Field Microscope Hiking) necessarily has, due to size and weight limits, as well as the operational constraint of its use in the field might be helpful. As would the reason one might want to use a microscope in the field other than confirming th...

I would add that it does not look particularly sturdy either. Not what I would consider a Field microscope.

Re: Image quality comparisons of available microscope cameras
Charles Krebs has a very useful spreadsheet on this on his homepage: http://krebsmicro.com/relayDSLR/relay_micro.xls Put in the magnification, NA and relay optic magnification, and you'll get the resolution needed to sample 2, 2.5, 3.0 or 3.5 pixels per resolvable feature. In practice, it definitel...
