Re: Actinocyclus octonarius
I get strong chromatic aberration especially around the edges when I tried direct projection without lifting the eyepiece. Hi Wes, in this case you will have changed the objective's focus, right? This is not a good method as the objectie is not used as intended. Bob What I did was to make sure the ...

Re: Actinocyclus octonarius
I compared Rolf's hybrid eyepieces ( eye lens KPL 10x, barrel KPL 8x, field lens either KPL 8x or KPL 10x) to a lifted standard KPL 8x: The hybrids give a much better image. So Rolf really had an ingenious idea here, especially since the hybrids consist of fairly common components. Neither of us ha...

. Many thanks chrisimbee and MicroBob For your M43 camera the lenses of a KPL 10x non-high eyepoint mounted on the barrel of the KPL 8x non-high-eyepoint should give good colour correction and good use of the image circle. Thanks apochronaut, was just trying to keep things like postage and customs simple.
Have dropped the UK as an ebay shopping area - have heard lots of horror stories in terms of postage and tax!
Will contact some EU dealers and see what they have.

Is Slide thickness critical?

It suddenly occurred to me that though I do take into account cover slip thickness I have not done the same with slide thickness.
Both my slide boxes have 1.0/1.2mm written on them. Though I have not measured the slides. Is there an ideal thickness?

Re: Actinocyclus octonarius
Thanks Wes An eyepiece is designed to send a virtual image that needs a lens (afocal or an eye) to convert it into a real one. By raising the eyepiece it produces instead a real image that can then be projected directly onto the camera sensor. This is to try to improve sharpness and detail (closer t...

Re: should i buy Bresser phase contrast series 57?
Just to add to the comments above - You may find that though the generic phase kit works well enough you will be limited by the objectives that come with it. A used 160 finite quality microscope will allow you to upgrade just about everything in time (and all designed to work well together) To use Z...

Re: Wanted: Zeiss KPL 2.5x Photo Eyepiece
Hi, you might have a look at Rolf's new camera adaptation method: https://microscopyofnature.com/microphotography-hybrid-eyepieces He uses combinations of standard eyepiece components to form a projective. I have tested his method and it works very well. Bob The modified eyepiece idea as shown by R...
