If I understand you, I have other ones that aren't in such good condition- most of the circuitry 'washed' off- and I used one of those.

No, I don't prepare these myself. I did send out some mineral specimens to a commercial entity (Vancouver Petrographics), but these above were made by a member of the faculty at the Geological Institute in Amsterdam in the 1960s and 1970s.

A few thin sections imaged at 1:1 (55mm Micro Nikkor) between crossed polars, the mesoscale structure of these samples are more interesting than the microstructure (IMO)... Decapping and imaging chips is a not uncommon hobby/thing. If he put his name on it, its unlikely he wasn't expecting others to find and/or post about it.
