DIY Slide Ringing
Hello all, Happy holidays to everyone. Oliver sparked my imagination and creativity and I made a DIY slide ringing apparatus using old CD disks, a large bolt, large fender washer and some epoxy. Inserted into a hand drill it works pretty well. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BZo2paTjXj2es3cGrFBzy4g...

Thanks for your info. I'm looking into that. I like the features of Toupview, if it would just keep working properly.

Anyone use a different photo software ?
Hello all, I have a new OMAX 5MP USB 3.0 camera and the Toupview software seems "glitchy" as my students used to say. Sometimes when I log on I get a black screen, sometimes a white screen, and no image. The only remedy was reinstall of the program, losing the calibration for the objectives. Has any...

Re: Stupid new comer question
I had never heard of a micrometer slide and will look at getting one. A micrometer slide really gives you a lot of information about your microscope and objectives and informs you more directly regarding size of objects in your specimen. I bought two different ones. One with just the 1mm broken int...

I believe ToupView can be directly downloaded from the Amscope site at the bottom of the page where it says "Camera Software Download".

Re: Welcome to the new forum!
I see the post for inserting/embedding YouTube videos into forum posts, but (for me anyway) the image in that for the directions for embedding does not open for me. How can I embed YT videos? I've tried multiple ways, but obviously not the correct way. Thanks.

What's going on here with these critters?
Can anyone tell me what's going on here? I'm fairly new to microscopy other than 40 some years ago as a university bio major, and as a gemologist. But that's totally different than trying to ID microscopic flora and fauna. Any help will be appreciated. I'm thinking an amoeba eating a daphnia. The da...

Omax M83EZ-C02
Just received my first compound trinocular scope. Now that I'm retired I have time to get "back to my roots". I initially was a marine bio major back in the 70s. Wound up becoming a gemologist and owning two jewelry stores doing gem ID and appraisal, so had experience using a GIA gemscope, then beca...

My microscope...till tomorrow
I'm new to microscopy, other than 45 years ago in college. I'm right now using a newly purchased digital scope like the one attached, to examine and repair watches. Using it to example biological specimens got me more interested and am awaiting delivery of a trinocular scope which I will attach my m...
