Re: WTB AO 570 or 580
Thanks! Yes Cycloptics as well. Regarding the stereo "dissecting" scopes, I would greatly prefer one from someone on the forum who can verify things are in order and no loose parts and more likely to ship with care. I just had a scope arrive with little mirror bouncing around on its own in the box, ...

Re: AO 10 Arrived today - trying to ID everything to ask intelligent questions about upgrading
I give up on rotating this correctly.
Mainly wanted the trinoc tube.
Now just wondering why I did not notice this is a 160mm scope when chasing the tube.
anyway, starting to clean and inventory and then figure out how to illuminate
and so it goes.

Re: What are these square-lobed 4- and 6-sided screw heads used in the Reichert 410 Microstar IV?
Hi,
Are these the same sizes used in the AO10? (McMaster-Carr part numbers 7048A12 and 7048A18)
Thanks!

Re: How to use the AO10 Teaching Head
Thanks, tapping worked great, the bulb slid right out and filaments looked good. I tested the bulb separately and it lit up fine. The Y plug is also fine, so it is a wire connection somewhere from the Y to the bulb. I am a bit reluctant to take the adaptor ring apart to access the switch and test co...

Re: How to use the AO10 Teaching Head
With a bit more digging, the patent linked below seems to explain and show the parts or at least the concept quite nicely (altho this suggests an arrow reticle, and some reports by eBay sellers describe a green dot) https://patents.google.com/patent/US3582178A/en . I am not sure exactly how to remov...

Re: How to use the AO10 Teaching Head
Thanks both - A lit pointer makes sense. The illuminator has the Y connector. Just need a lit pointer on the Xmission website (always learning new things from that site).

How to use the AO10 Teaching Head
Hi, I have an AO10 setup that came with teaching head adapter and teaching head. The adapter has a power cord and a long screw that looks like it adjusts something. When I plug the cord in I don't see a light come on. I can't find info on how that mechanism (plug and adjustment screw) is supposed to...

Re: Laminar flow equipment
I am planning to build one of these. https://www.patreon.com/posts/78502280 for eventual mushroom propagation (and agree with SuiGenerisBrewing on what you might be breathing in) Meanwhile, I think it can help me when I am removing dust from optics :) I am not so concerned about perfectly laminar fl...

Re: WTB: 15X 184 eyepieces & trinoc phototube for AO10
Update - was able to find 184s, but still needing phototube. I know there is a tube of sorts (not OEM) https://www.ebay.com/itm/152323422958 https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/UCEAAOxy63FS5wCR/s-l1600.jpg And I think there was a discussion how this needed flocking on the eyepiece end to reduce light ref...

WTB: 15X 184 eyepieces & trinoc phototube for AO10
Hi, looking for these 15X eyepieces to add the versatility to my AO10. And looking for a phototube adaptor for my trinoc head. Not seeing much on eBay and other sources.
The journey continues

Re: AO 10 Arrived today - trying to ID everything to ask intelligent questions about upgrading
Wow, thanks @dtsh. I will look at the multi-view option and the mono head for the camera as alternative to the trinocular head :). Let me know if you did post the 3D printed head. And keep the Phase Centering set up for farther down the road item. Thanks for the strategy to check and ask about on-li...

Re: AO 10 Arrived today - trying to ID everything to ask intelligent questions about upgrading
Thanks all for the input (including your usage of basic objectives, @deBult). I've saved my eBay searches for the part numbers, and taking to heart that I may not find great deals by part number, but more by whole or not working systems that get advertised that include the parts I want that may not ...

Re: AO 10 Arrived today - trying to ID everything to ask intelligent questions about upgrading
Thank you both so much for the input. I am sure I will have more questions later once I have done some due diligence. I love the heft of the AO10. FWIW - I purchased off eBay (at $65 plus $35 shipping) since there was a sticker showing it had been serviced in 2022. That eased my trepidation somewhat...

Hi folks - soil micro adventuring in mind
Nice to be part of this forum. Used microscope arrived today, so checking it out. Hope to do somewhat quantitative comparisons of soil organisms to judge effect of converting lawn to native plants here in the foothills of Boulder, CO
