Re: First slide
Hi Charlie, thank you! I don't use a computer, just make the picture, crop it, and maybe adjust a little brightness, dark zones, but all done on the cell phone. I suggest you can use a good camera app with manual options and a smartphone holder. I use Camera FV-5 (android) and ordered a holder (it's...

Re: New equipment for learning
Not going to wade through that pdf. Anyway we are hijacking Xito's thread which should be about his new microscope! Sorry Xito Don't worry. I'm pleased of reading your comments. Each post is a new lesson for me. Just don't expect very good pictures from a newbie. Yesterday was the first day in my l...

First slide
This is my first slide and my first picture. Just with my cell phone through the eyepiece.
A drop of water from a reef tank. 400x. I found this 'thing'. Just a test. Too little 'thing' for my first time I think.

Re: New equipment for learning
Here it is.
Everything seems fine. I have no slides yet so tried just with a single wire of my hair on the plate. It was difficult to focus but I understand, without a slide...
The most difficult part for me is to adjust the oculars distance...
Can't wait to do it again properly.

Re: New equipment for learning
I can see 20x and 60x bresser achromatic objectives are cheap (20x:20€:, 60x:45€, almost same numbers on us dollars) I'll wait for their response but it'd not be a big problem if I need to buy the 20x objective later... Just little doubts about buying the trinocular or just binocular model. I know d...

Re: New equipment for learning
Ok, I'll ask them about changing 100x oil lens by a 20x one.
I'm more interested on algae identification and microscopic live (not only from the reef tank) than critters... Do you think I can really discard the 100x oil lens?
Thanks!

New equipment for learning
Hi, As I said in the Introduce yourself section I'm looking for equipment in europe to start learning microscopy. My strategy is to start with a simple equipment just to see if this hobby is really for me (1-2 years lifetime and maybe sell it later if I think a need a better one). My interests are m...

Re: Awaited hobby!
Hi!, Thank you for your responses. I'm glad to hear your opinions. I tried to access the spanish forum as 75RR said, read a lot there, but it was impossible for me to register.. I had no reply to the registry process. I got a bit impressed when I started to read, people with great equipment, too muc...

Awaited hobby!
Hi, Its time to start learning microscopy... My main hobbies are aquariums (reef tanks) and plants. Always thought it would be interesting to watch, identify, and learn about the "small life" we cannot see but I never took it seriously. Now I have time and illusion, I want to start and I want to do ...
