Aha … I see now that the female dovetail is detachable !!

… I had assumed it to be fixed in place.

That could make your life much easier.

Re: Trinocular Tube Shaped

You will need the appropriate ‘male’ dovetail to fit into that

See here for an example: http://www.alanwood.net/olympus/eyepiec ... l#dovetail
… that’s for Olympus, but it nicely illustrates the principle

What is your microscope ?

My question for Michael G., and apo, and all...?) Are we with global shutter cameras making the expensive: " shutterless camras obsolete...as shutterless cameras do not have 'global shutters'? Extraordinary video … but presumably a fairly ordinary event :?

It’s humbling to think how little of ‘what goes on’ must escape the attention of mankind.

A great set of images, Frank … thanks for sharing them.

I was instantly reminded of a great photograph by Otto Croy, which is probably what started my interest in macro.

Why is having a global shutter a big deal for imaging in microscopy? Excuse my ignorance.
Nicely explained by Apochronaut
The motion of cillia is usually very poorly captured by the more common ‘rolling shutter’

Further to apochronaut’s helpful note … I would just add that
what's meant by "high dry magnification"
is simply high magnification using a dry objective

… it’s just a jargon phrase which slips nicely off the tongue.

Yes … Find a ‘vintage’ bicycle pump [most modern ones will probably be less conveniently made] … dismantle it and reverse the leather cup-washer which forms the piston/valve.

Hey Presto !!
