Re: Advice new or refurbish my Zeiss?

Hi folks, me again writing. Time ago I asked assistance from Zeiss about the trinocular for my AxioLab Re and today they have unfortunately confirmed that trinoculars pn 452910 and 452914 would not fit my scope as they are for Axioscops not Axiolabs. The trinocular that would fit is 452909 but I can...

Re: Advice new or refurbish my Zeiss?

What would you pick ? The dovetail connectors of the three heads appear to be the same, or very similar to each other, and differ from the connector on the head of your present binocular. So, a dilema. Hopefully an expert on Zeiss Axio will join and judge. Or I would continue to investigate in Zeis...

Re: Stacking Software

In all three of these images, I found the farthest away point that was in focus (in the depth of field), made note of that; then I found the closest in-focus point in the depth of field and made note of that. I started with the former and worked toward the latter in tiny increments: making a "captu...

Re: Advice new or refurbish my Zeiss?

Sorry to disturb you again, just an update. I dismantled the binocular head of my the Axioscope RE to check the dimensions of the mechanical parts and happy to read the manufct. code being 452908. Hence it is quite risk-free that the three trinocular currently on sale - the 452914, 452902 and the 45...
Sorry, magnification is (at least in practice) the same with / without oil.
Hobbyst, I confirm your statement, i checked without oil. The Carl Zeiss x100 code 4860960 (1.30 na) objective is actually x850 (kinda a false marketing lol!). I bought this Zeiss second hand but after I clea...

Re: Magnification of oil immersion

I approach it differently. Irrespective of the scale of the reticle. On my PC screen, with the 63X objective, 150um = 19.5cm. And with the 100X objective, 120um = 19.5cm. Hence, the apparent ratio of FOVs between them is 150/120=1.25. If the images were obtained under identical conditions , the rat...

Re: Magnification of oil immersion

in the x63 obj. 95 reticle units measured 150um, hence 1 unit - 150/95 = 1.58um/div actual magnification: 950um (reticle units) / 15um (actual) = x 63.3 in the x100 obj., 95 reticle units measured 110um, hence 1 unit - 110/95 = 1.17um/div magn 1000/1.17 = x854 (not x 1000) actual magnification: 950u...

Re: Magnification of oil immersion

I did all this already and I knew all the theory, but my question was that when I calibrated the oil immersion x100, the distance between the 10um grades of the reticle where 11.74um and hence asking what is the actually magnification x100 or x 85 or x117 under oil immersion ?

Magnification of oil immersion

I want to be sure that what I am doing/assuming is correct. I need to measure some spores and assume I am using the x100 objective (oil) with the eyepiece of x10 and a reticle with 10 um (0.01mm) per division. The theoretic distance between each division is 1um. However when use a stage micrometre w...

Re: Advice new or refurbish my Zeiss?

So this part ZEISS Trinocular Microscope Head For Axio Series 45 29 14 has a code different from mine series 45 09 05. Does it still match? By sight, it looks similar to mine. I am also concerned that the phototube is so wide! Is it a standard size like that or something alien nowadays?

Re: Advice new or refurbish my Zeiss?

Better a canceled transaction and refund than a very risky purchase, with the headache of returning broken parts. Re: Round structures from toilet grime

They are not bacteria (at x40 you would see them as dots) and the chaining suggests living matter. It must be a microfungus, and I don't know if it may be the yeast Candida albicans (that found in female pouches!)

Re: x100 oil objective

Hi 75RR, thanks for your comments, very valuable of course. Yes the x1000 magnification is important in mycology, 1 for seeing detail in the surface (coat) of spores and then 2. for measurements, were measuring spores on a reticule at x1000 is more accurate than at x40 (average length of spores is 8...

Re: x100 oil objective

You will not be pleased with the performance of the A-Plan ph 3. Phase objectives, when used for bright field , are affected by a small degree of spherical aberration due to the presence of the phase plate in the objective. It is noticeable with all objectives to some degree but lower power objecti...
