I was referring to the adapter pin the image you provided. Not the adapter to the DSLR.
Thanks, I did a little searching but wasn't able to find any information on it. I know there's a beamsplitter and optics in it but that's about it.

I think your adapter is from a third party supplier such as Diagnostic Instruments.
Thanks for chiming in. Do you mean this or the adapter I conjured together?

Re: Polyvar MET (side camera port)

I removed the camera port from the scope and disassembled and cleaned it. I thought there might have been some misalignment issues internally that could be adjusted but that wasn't the case. So I was still dumbfounded. It's totally obvious when looking down inside the camera port tube that the indiv...

Polyvar MET (side camera port)

Anyone have direct experience with this particular side camera port on a Polyvar MET? The image isn't centered. I can't seem to find any documentation on centering/aligning the image and thought someone may know.

Re: Polyvar MET (mirror issue)

Thanks. I wasn't aware that the hole in the rear was for a HBO or fluorescence. Just checked out the manual. I bet those accessories are as rare as hens teeth. I had to make a knob puller to get the mirror flipping knob off (yes I removed the set screw), then I was able to remove the diverging mirro...

Re: Polyvar MET (mirror issue)

Strange, I'm not getting notifications and I have the box checked. Anyway, the problem I'm having is figuring out HOW to get the knob off so I'm able to remove the mirror assembly. I did remove the set screw completely. There probably is a flat on shaft. I see not screw in the END of the shaft so it...

Re: Polyvar MET (mirror issue)

Or perhaps I can rig up a Nikon lamp-house and power supply along with a Optiphot collimating lens to the hole in back of the MET? I have the components.

Polyvar MET (mirror issue)

I finally prayed to the Polyvar MET gods for motivation to work on the MET today. Everything 'seems' to be in excellent working condition but I am missing a few things. Today I wired up an external Nikon variable power supply to power the internal lamp-house it worked. Even the old bulb fired right ...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Thanks for the replies. I haven't been getting notifications of new posting. I've decided to forget the side port for now and fabricate a new top section for the MET and modify it for a full frame camera connection.

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Has anyone had success mounting a digital camera on the side port of a Polyvar MET like the one I posted pictures of? Either the side port or PREFERABLY fabricating and modifying something that will work on the TOP of the MET microscope as some models have?

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Hi, What kind of milling do you have? You mentioned doing new parts and adapters. Thanks, Ted Bridgeport mill and other machining stuff. Very nice! How are the optics in the binocular tube?
FYI I'm not getting notification of new replies to this thread. I have everything setup to do so. Anyway based on the incorrect illumination I'm currently using the optics are excellent while viewing a wafer thru the binos.

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Hopefully I can get this up and running soon. As I mentioned before, I'm not familiar with this particular scope. I am by no means an expert with scopes but I do have several other scopes, a complete PZO Biolar with DIC, PhA, PhS and PhZ, Optiphot with POL, DIC, Nomarski, Fluorescence and a Nikon MM...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Being completely new to the Polyvar MET, what are the best objectives? I assume they made other Fluor's and APO's. My MET came with;

Plan Fluor 50x/0.85 Epi
Plan 20x/0.40 Epi IK
Plan 5x/.0.10 Epi
Plan 2x/0.04

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Me again,

1. So, does anyone actually know the difference between a Polyvar SC (semiconductor) and the Polyvar MET (inspection/metallurgical) scopes?

2. How would you attached a digital camera or 4/3rd's camera to a MET?

Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

Does anyone actually know the difference between a Polyvar SC (semiconductor) and the Polyvar MET (inspection/metallurgical) scopes. Are accessories, internal components interchangeable between each other ... DIC, DSlR adaptability, and so forth? If I knew I surely wouldn't be asking.

My main reason for posting was my lack of knowledge in what Positive Phase Contrast (PPC) is supposed to look like since I simply don't know. From my searching it looks more like what is described as Anoptral Phase Contrast. I would also like to see a few "examples" of what amplitude-phase "objects"...

The image below was shot with the same setup (PhS setup) but using the LED illumination in place of the stock PZO bulb illuminator. Can you post a link or screen shot of the article/paragraph that advises that purchase and its intended use. Is it for a home made hot-plate? I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post the link.
