Re: Intro
Hi Griff, It looks like a nice scope to begin with and you certainly seem to enjoy what you are doing. Continue to explore the microscopic world and learn about technique. As you grow, you will begin to develop better understanding and learn more about features that may be desirable to have. Then yo...

Great images. Being fairly new to sectioning, I'd like to see a picture of the specimen glued to the cardboard, if possible. Thanks!

Re: I bought a set.
I bought a 100 slide set of Mondo's botanical slides knowing they were cheap and not having high expectations. There are some good slides in the set. I found that many sections are thin and lightly stained but are improved with viewing under polarized light. Some were mislabeled. I've been reasonabl...

I have a Seiler Westlab II with achromat objectives. I've been well satisfied with it for my purposes, but I'm not into resolving the details in diatoms and such. I've attached an image of one of my hand sections taken with my iPhone 4 for your review. Sweet Gum petiole TBO.JPG Hope this helps. Perry

Re: Does anyone tried metal washer and flat rubber o-ring as spacer?
The slides in my images are for things like crystals or sand grains and similar items to view under low power with DF or polarized light or under my cheap stereo 'scope. After having made the slide, I just can't bear throwing it away!

The photos aren't bad. I use an iPhone 4 with an eyepiece adapter on a binocular scope. The adapter is by Grosky and was $18 on Amazon. The biggest problem I have is with focus so I try to get a good focus through the eyepiece, then attach the phone and let it autofocus, then take the picture. It ta...
