Re: Leitz Orthoplan parts for sale

Eye-pieces and nose-pieces from an Ortholux do not fit an Orthoplan.

Your pricing for the other items is at least ambiguous to put it mildly.

Re: Help with decision on Leitz Orthoplan

Don't compare apples with pears. The PL Apo 40/0.75 is a dry objective while the PL Fluotar 40/1.3 is an Oil one. Resolution is a function of NA. The 40/1.3 provides significant higher resolution than the 40/0.75. A PL Apo is perfectly corrected against chromatic aberrations while the Fluotar is cor...

Re: Leitz Orthoplan - How to adjust focus tension?

This is hardened grease for sure. There is only one way to fix it: disassemble, remove the old grease, re-grease, assemble. The Orthoplan does NOT have the feature to vary the tension by turning the knobs in opposite directions. Both knobs should turn very easily if in proper condition. This jobs is...

Re: Suggestions for a diy xy mechanical stage for an inverted scope

Adapting a mechanical stage depends very much on your needs.

What do you use with your Wilovert?

standard slides?
petri dishes?
well plates?
culture flasks?
other?

For standard slides it is easy. Just adapt some stage found on the market. For the other stuff it is a bit more complicated.

Re: Info on the Hund Wetzlar Wilovert inverted scope

Good fitting heads are those from white Leitz Dialux or Laborlux microscopes. Their dovetail is 42 mm as well. The oldest Leitz microscope with a 42 mm dovetail was the Dialux 20 from 1978. Everything from a grey (43 mm) or black (41 mm) Leitz will not fit. Same with heads for high-end Leitz stands ...

Re: Help with decision on Leitz Orthoplan

The two pictures show two different dark field condensers. The first is a dry one suitable for objectives up to NA of about 0.7. The second one is an oil immersion condenser suitable for objectives with NA up to about 1.0. The handling of this condenser is somewhat tricky as well. Even with the latt...

Re: Info on the Hund Wetzlar Wilovert inverted scope

I suspect that Wild and Hund objectives share a common heritage. I wonder how Wetzlar fits in this sequence..the names Wetzlar and Leitz are often seen together. Wild was a Swiss microscope make who merged with Leitz. The company acquired other makers like Reichert, American Optical and Bausch & Lo...

Re: Info on the Hund Wetzlar Wilovert inverted scope

I had personal contact to Micheal Wagner at Hund. m.wagner@hund.de . There was no relationship between Hund and Leitz beyond the fact that both are based in Wetzlar. Hund acquired the microscope maker Will in 1988. This is how they entered the microscope market. You may use other non-PH objectives w...

This ploemopak works fine with infinity objectives? Because they seems to be way cheaper and abundant. The Ploemopak is designed to work with standard transient light objectives made for finite tube length 170 or 160 mm. Infinity objectives will not work. To make it worse: In reflected light fluore...

EF and NPL objectives work on the Orthoplan. They are just not perfectly plan. If you can live with it, you are fine. About the Ploemopak: You need this for reflected light fluorescence. Your Orthoplan is already configured for transient light fluorescence. Start with that and look for a properly pr...

Re: Help - Making a permanent blood smear slide

To make blood smears permanent I use the following process. Make your smear the usual way. Let it dry in air. This takes only a minute or so. Fix in methanol. Stain following the usual process for your chosen staining. Wash thoroughly in distilled water. Let it dry in air. Wash three times in isopro...

Yes, and you need a proper power unit for the LED. The original incumbent bulb was fed with AC power, not suitable for any LED.

To work properly your hemacytometer needs its special cover glass. All those properties are needed to have a defined volume in the chamber. A standard cover gla...

I don't see any safety issue with it but the results will not satisfy you. The green yellow and red light coming from the Mercury burner will be much stronger than any fluorescence light. As a result you will see no autofluorescence at all. There are filter cubes that allow only UV or UV + violett o...

If you are based in India, give them a try. The "American" microscopes from Amscope et. al. are all made in China and not different from those Chinese brands. If they are good for you, there is a very good chance an Indian one is as well.

The 100x are immersion objectives. They are very tolerant against scratches on the front lens because the oil fill them op and there is extremely little refraction between glass and oil.

I thought Zeiss is more expensive, just realized one can make an account on their page and see the prices. The trinocular 305 with a base and gooseneck LEDs costs 2800€, that should be good, although a bit over the budget. https://pulchlorenz.de/mikroskope/stereomikroskope/stemi-305/stereomikroskop...
