Re: Searching Cree LED for tiny dimmers
If you can recommend any LED with a suitable electronics, I will be very grateful to know :) This is what I did, look at the last post for the latest version. Dimmer works great. Higher voltage doesn't mean higher temperatures, higher power (watts) mean more temperature... You can limit the upper v...

Re: Searching Cree LED for tiny dimmers
Mouser has all kinds of Cree leds. I made my dimmer with a step down converter from Ali express it worked without any flicker with any led connected. Including cree. And cheap maybe 5$ Good thing is that you can limit max voltage and use any Power supply (e.g. 19V 3A old laptop adapter (free) to pow...

FS: Olympus SZ40 stereo in EU
I'm selling an Olympus SZ40 in good condition, has some dust inside, I won't clean that as I don't think it affects performance. The stand has been completely cleaned and lubricated, so it is perfect now. Eyepieces are new, but not original: WF10X/23 focusing. images: https://ibb.co/album/HLJ2WR inf...

Re: WF10X/22 vs Olympus GSWF10x/22
I just recieved WF10X/23 (focusable black version) and they are almost parfocal. Just a little less parfocal than the genuine Olympus GSWF10X/22 (which are almost parfocal too).
Definitely usable without much hassle, I didn't notice any difference in image quality...

Yes, you can charge and use at the same time which is great, no need for dummy batteries. And the completely electronic shutter is a nice feature, for concerts or when shooting people, they act differently when there is no sound :D . For photomicrography it might be useful only if you want to do bur...

Thanks, I'm glad you like it... Biggest con is that it crops 100 frame video quite a lot, 2x or something. Micro video is great, I didn't do photomicrography much, but for general photography I enjoy using it, I feel 12mp is enough for my stills, low light performance is great and the camera can be ...

I have a similar one, I think one model newer, from 1920s with fine focus knobs on the sides. It does get some use occasionally, I love the looks and the mechanism.

Re: How to know is water for drinking
I suggest you see a doctor I don't think it is possible to really evaluate water without proper lab equipment, a specially equipped microscope and knowledge of the lab process. I think you'd at least need a centrifuge and some contrast method other than brightfield. Although you can look at it for f...

Would you recommend buying some 160 din chinese plan objectives for the BH2? Re: Stereo-Microscope for Entomology on a Budget
The problem with Zeiss/Jena and even Reicherts is that they're absolutely ridiculously overpriced in Austria and Germany alike and 99.9% of all listings are called "stereo-microscope" but are just binocular compounds. The few actual stereos I've found are totally trashed :-/ I couldn't find AP Ster...

Re: Leitz Orthoplan - How to adjust focus tension?
My first try with the heat gun helped a lot, but coarse focus was still stiffer than I like. Today I removed the stage, which gave me some access to the inside of the focus block. Not complete access, but enough for mineral spirits to wick inside. I put a knapkin under the area to catch any mineral...

While the nfk eyepiece works OK with the sz40 you can also just direct project onto aps-c with imo better results. Now you got me thinking... Although this purchase should be a good chance for me, as I might break even in the end. I started thinking if it will make the whole microscope a lot bulkie...

Re: WF10X/22 vs Olympus GSWF10x/22
I've had good luck with them, especially the ones with a diopter adjustment. In some stereo scopes (Leica CMO, Olympus SZH-U, etc.)they need to sit lower in the tube to be parfocal. The price is right, even if you later decide to go for OEM eyepieces. My own SZ40 has Olympus 10x/23 eyepieces. I men...

WF10X/22 vs Olympus GSWF10x/22
Hi, I found a SZ40 trinocular in Europe, the first one in a year or so, it even has a SZ-ILA base and most importantly price isn't over the top, not a bargain, but ok. Missing are the eyepieces, NFK photo eyepieces, collector lens for the base and the photomicro L adapter (SZ-PT and the one below ar...

Re: Putting Led in place of original filament lamp in an Olympus SZ1145CHI
I had a similar g4 led to yours and it was declared as non dimmable, but I could easily dim it with a step down converter. I bought it locally. The other one I tried to dim the same way would start flickering instead of dimming. So best to try out, step down converters can be found cheap (few $) fro...
